Watching my kid freak because his sticks don't match and he can't find a matching set makes me grin.

That apple doesn't fall far from this tree.
 
Select OCD. I don't like mismatched sticks either, doesn't matter that they're the same size, if they aren't a match I won't play with them.

I can totally understand that. The different colours create an imbalance and it's offsetting as well as off-putting.

Exactly. It draws my eyes and I lose my concentration.

It raises the existential question: would it be better to live fast, die young and leave beautiful memories, or fight on to your dotage, puttering through the days, filling your life with quiet moments of simple pleasure? Does having a hit record in 1938 equal the sound if a grandchild's laughter?
