Maybe the better question is, can you write a story that doesn't turn you on, and make it believable and exciting to others? It seems many authors stick to a category or two. What about going out of your comfort zone?
Obviously, there are a lot of things out here that turn people on. What about something that doesn't turn you on? Can you write that? I've written stories around the edges, but I somehow use my own experiences to write the sex scenes. They end up being stories within a story in a way.
Now that could be an interesting contest. Write a story others would think is hot on a topic that you don't. Or better yet, on something that is a bit of a turnoff for you. Could you do it?
