I was thinking of doing a story based on the tv show Modern Family staring Sarah Hyland, Julie Bowen and Sofia Vergara

I was thinking of setting in - Australia

or in tropical Hawaii

Does it sound good

And does anyone have anywhere else where it could be set or any ideas they would like seen

Will your story be about those actresses, or about the characters they play? Because they would be very different stories.

I was confused by the title I thought the OP meant a modern family erotica idea.

It would consist of mom dad bro and sis sitting around a table and tweeting and texting their friends while ignoring each other!

Don't be silly, the modern family dosen't even eat at the kitchen table.

Dear God families did use to sit down more than once or twice a year. What the fuck was wrong with people!

Am I the only one here who immediately thought of the TV show?

Hawaii could be a nice touch since the family did travel there on Jay's birthday (first season). Australia however could be nice since it's a fresh setting, assuming you know about the country and culture.

If it has to take place during a vacation trip though, I'd say write about any place you know well about, or would love to visit.

The hard thing about fanfiction (and I'm most disturbed by the lack of well-written Modern Family fanfiction. Or rather, the show writers did such a brilliant job that nobody could top.) is the dynamics between characters. You want them to be Gloria, Claire and Haley, NOT a Latino, a white blond housewife/mother/business woman, and a brunette teenager.

If you need a beta reader feel free to message me :)

No. Even though I've never seen the show I knew what the subject was. I simply found the derail to be sufficiently entertaining. I tend to stay away from fanfiction of franchises I'm not highly familar with and even then I usually throw out that I'm taking various liberties.

The character of Alex is the most appealing to me for this. She's filled in nicely over the past couple seasons, and I could play off the nerd and innocence factors too. However, since she's a minor in real life and on the show, perhaps keep it in draft mode for a couple years.

You could just fast forward your story so Alex is over 18. Hell, you could start the story at the little brother's 18th birthday so everyone's legal.

Technically Joe/Gloria and Jay's baby still wouldn't be legal then. So not "everyone".

But I like the time skip idea. Maybe Alex/Luke's about to go off to college and the older women decide they will throw a special party to prepare him/her for wild college life.

I like when Phil and Claire play their little sex game at the bar, using their "alter ego" names (which I don't recall at the moment). On the show, it usually goes badly and they don't end up in the sack. In a Lit fan-fic, of course, that would all change!

I love that game! I think it's Julianna and Clive but not sure. Somebody needs to write that Phil/Claire story.

However I think OP is looking to do a lesbian threesome story. But it could be fun to see Claire introducing Gloria to the alias game. For some reasons I think Gloria would react with lots of humour and awks. It might be hard to write but would be so fun to read.

Umm, maybe, maybe not.

Not sure 100% how it works, but I know stories based on things like Harry Potter and even Yu-gi-oh are still considered underage even if "fast forwarded" because the characters are originally underage and that liberty is not appreciated.

The site is tight on some thing in celebrity.

I missed this earlier. LC is abosolutely right. You cannot time-skip your story. Characters AND actors must be legal for the character to be legal for the purposes of the website.

I don't really approve of this rule, mostly because I think it's far far to easy to get twisted up on. Yes you'll find exceptions on the site but those are either cases where the mods either didn't care or weren't familiar with whatever franchise was written about.

Actually, the owners do not allow stories of current children being aged up in the future. That is also true if a TV/movie character is a minor even when the actor/actress is legal.

I read an article about Sophia Vergara where she mentioned that her body was fully developed at 16 when she was attending catholic school.

By that logic, can I make a story about a 16-year-old Sophia Vergara set in the catholic school? She could be exploring her voluptuous body in one of those awesome catholic school girl uniforms? She's 41 in real life, so does that mean no harm, no foul?

Nope. Both the character and the actor/actress must be of age. If the show gets cancelled before the character comes of age they are considered a minor forever and in the case of cartoons like the Simpsons the kids are forever children. There doesn't seem to be an "official" rule on characters like the X-Men and Spiderman who were in their late twenties to mid thirties throughout the 90's but have spent the last fifteen years as teens.

...so I didn't know the cast were actually filming in Australia when I first read OP's thread. Just found this little gem http://www.smh.com.au/entertainment...alian-connection-revealed-20140220-333g6.html

Basically Phil is claiming to be part Australian now (spoiler much?) and Gloria has this inspirational quote: "I don't eeeeeeet anything unless I know what's eeen eeet."

...someone please write something based on that line.
