I am angry at the moment and wanted to vent.
I had seen in the comments for my new story that Duna was bragging about getting two of my stories pulled from the site. I didn't think much of it at the time, but upon checking my story list found that there are two stories missing. I have PM'ed Laurel with my complaint and asking for an explanation.
I wasn't given any warning that these stories were going to be omitted from the site and am wondering when the other story that has the cheating wife murdered as part of the ending omitted also.
Murder of a cheating spouse happens. Violence against other people who are viewed as threats like the antagonist in "I Hate That Bitch...2", which is one of my missing stories, happens. When did these types of subject matter become taboo?
I read a story yesterday titled "The Murdered Wife" so WTF has happened that my stories have to go but this one gets approved?
What about all the other stories I've read by other authors that have cheating spouses or boyfriends/girlfriends of same getting killed off?
What's next, stories that have the cheater being treated like a slave and/or servant by the offended party suddenly being omitted because someone doesn't agree with that type behavior?
I don't want to leave LIT., but when censorship starts rearing its ugly head, I may have no choice but to leave.
Am I overreacting, my fellow authors?
I will wait for an answer from Laurel, but I am not a happy camper tonight!

Sorry, haven't read your stories, so I don't know which ones are missing. Which leads to the first question: which ones are missing?

There's lots of violence in stories, no question, so I am skeptical that simply killing the cheating wife would get a story pulled. The two main things that would get a story pulled are underage sex and bestiality. As I recall, on a different thread, you said something about using "high-school age" as a descriptor to get around the underage rule. Could that be at work here?

ETA: That may not have been you; sorry if I'm getting you confused with another poster.

Yes, that was me,

but none of those stories were involved.
After looking further, it appears that three of my stories are missing.
"Brock and Judy...5", "I Hate That Bitch...2", and my latest one which I'd entered in the Valentine's Day contest. All are in LW, do not include the two taboo subjects that were mentioned by you PennLady, and have murder of some of the characters as part of the story.
Without the first two mentioned, the series they are a part of have no conclusion.
Another oddity that I noticed was that two of my other stories that have murder in them, "Her Curiousity" and "The Lottery Changed Everything" are still up.
Most of my stories are in LW which I know isn't everyone's cup of tea. Without having access to the story, I can't even reference the exact comment Duna made about getting my stories pulled.
I stopped reading her submissions because the ANR aspect of them didn't appeal to me, but I didn't attack her stories demanding they be taken down because I didn't like the subject matter.
I'm angrier now than I was when I first started the thread.
Okay, maybe I had a snowball's chance in hell of winning the Valentine's Day contest with my entry; but with it completely gone from my story list and the Valentine's Day story list, I have no chance.

It sucks they pulled your stories. Cheating spouses get whacked all the time in real life. I thought as long as all sex was involving people over 18 and the killing wasn't part of the sex almost anything else went. I hope your stories get reinstated. I'm not sure if I have read your stuff or not. But now I'm intrigued.

OK, I have read your stuff. The lottery story and curiosity story were pretty good if I remember correctly. I hope Laurel gets this fixed and puts your stories back.

Censorship has nothing to do with it one way or the other. Governments can censor stuff but this is a privately owned site. If they don't want it, they don't have to post it. Period.

Wait for the reply from Laurel. It will save a bunch of anger that might not be needed.

I hope you get an answer from Laurel. I think they should inform authors when and why stories are removed, even if it's a form thing like with rejected stories. Does this Duna person have something against you?

Duna is Hungarian and is a big fan of revenge stories. That's what makes it surprising to me that he'd get stories pulled. He sent me an e-mail a few days ago all about someone threatening to get stories pulled, but it sounded like someone else was doing it. Weird.

My mistake

I thought Duna was a woman, but I'm almost 100% positive the comment I saw was from him.
To TXRAD, the stories were accepted, posted, and available until recently and yes I need to wait for an answer from Laurel, but I still don't understand why they would be pulled now, especially my latest one which was only up for a couple of days.
I have gone back to see if older stories that I'd read in the past that had violence and/or murder in them where still up and they are so why have my stories been singled out?
I know you can't answer that question, but I had to vent somewhere.

Just to be sure -- did you send Laurel a private message (upper right corner of this page)? The email addresses seem to be defunct.

The obvious thought for me is that someone reported the stories as containing "Snuff" -- which is Lit's seldom mentioned other total taboo.

If any character could have been interpreted as deriving sexual satisfaction from the cheating spouse's death, your story would be banned.

This happens a lot and I will answer as I always have.

The fault is the "screening" process. One person looks at all these stories and with as many as there are I feel a lot of them barely get a skim and I am sure only of the first page or two.

So....

what happens is stories that should not be posted get posted. Then stories that should not be posted get rejected. Which always leads to the rejected author pointing at the 100's of similar stories and saying "WTF"

which leads eventually to people telling you "Don't like it leave"

Your situation happened to me I had two stories approved and up for six months then someone pm's me saying they "fucked me real good" and sure enough they were gone.

I never put them back up and just put them for sale.

End of the day lit is consistently inconsistent and it is what it is.

I do understand why you are upset, and think you should vent, you have a legit reason to.

But be warned the defenders of the faith will be on your shit like white on rice if you have the audacity to be upset.

Snuff is not permitted at Literotica. Neither is maiming. In the last two days, I've read Literotica stories about

1) A woman beaten to a pulp so she loses a baby, has an emergency hysterectomy, and Her face is permanently scared.
2) A man whose penis is literally bitten off and eaten.
 Wow, that is fucked up.

2) A man whose penis is literally bitten off and eaten.

I assume you're referring to me.

The story in question was rejected initially, and I had to plead my case to Laurel through PM's before she allowed it to be posted. She's usually very accommodating if you can justify that the violence fits the story and isn't included for sexual gratification.

You should report those stories to the site.

I do my best to skim as quickly as I can. I miss things. Were I to read every word of every story, there is no possible way I could get through 150-200 submissions/day.

It would be greatly appreciated if whenever anyone reads rule-violating stories, they would take a second and click the REPORT THIS STORY triangle at the bottom of the story. That is the best way to make us aware of the issue. :rose:

I hope you get an answer from Laurel. I think they should inform authors when and why stories are removed, even if it's a form thing like with rejected stories.

We do.

Every day, we receive story reports. If I check and the report seems to have validity, it is sent back to the author with a notice. The story is sent back just like a rejected story.

Some authors reply and explain to us why they feel that the report is in error. If what they say makes sense, the story is put back on the site just as it was posted with no changes.

Other authors fix the story so that it falls within our rules. The story is then returned to the site, votes and comments intact.

Other authors decide to remove the story because they wish to not change it to fall within our rules. That's fine too.

This happens every day. This is neither the first nor the last story to be retroactively sent back for clarification.

I've explained in PM to the OP that all he needs to do is send the story back to me with a note explaining why he feels the violence in the story does not qualify as snuff/abuse/for sexual titillation of the audience. If that's the case, the story will be returned to the site.

Also, FYI for all authors - the REPORT STORY feature is there to help keep the site content up to our rules and standards. It is not there to be abused by writers trying to remove other work from the site. Doing so constitutes abuse, which is childish, uncool, and wastes our time which could be better spent approving stories. If you suspect someone is doing this, let them know that is abuse. DO not reciprocate in kind, as this exacerbates the problem and potentially delays story posting.

Thank you, all! :rose:

I see that

one of the stories A Little Show referenced was my Valentine's Day entry.
The one with the woman being beaten, losing a baby, and being scarred for life was mine. the actual act of her being beaten was not a part of the story only used by woman to explain the scars on her face and obvious appearance of her nose having been broken.
I didn't write it to be "titillating" but as a consequence of bad decisions. I still don't agree that the pulled stories are "snuff" stories and have expressed that opinion to Laurel in a PM.
Will I go to the trouble of defending the three stories individually? I haven't decided on the answer to that question yet.
My anger has gone only to be replaced with sadness. One malicious individual has ruined my hereto fore pleasant experience from being a member of the LIT. community and that is sad.

I sincerely hope you will.

Some people are bound to abuse the Lit report-feature in the same way as that annoying elderly neighbor who has one lawsuit or another going with the entire street over minor stuff and spends the rest of his day yelling "Get off my lawn!" to the neighborhood kids. You know the type. They're everywhere, including Lit.

So don't let Mr. Wilson win. You have invested time and effort in creating your stories, and you should stand up for them.

If Laurel decides the violence is gratuitous and obnoxious she can exclude whatever she likes. Personally, I'd be well pleased if she chucked out a lot more.

The one thing the op can be certain of is that all his future stories will be closely examined.;)

True - however don't forget that erotica writers are notoriously sensitive to censorship of any kind. The authors aren't paid so their driving force is pure enthusiasm, and I sense that the OP just took a major shot to the gut in that regard. I fear that it will be a while before we see a story from him again, and that's sad.

Rules are rules, but taking a story down is a major deal for the author. It's shouldn't happen automatically without any grace period or prior communication with him.

As StrangeLife said, I hope you do defend your stories. We authors need to be proactive when things like this happen. This individual can only ruin your experience if you let them. Take a deep breath, then defend the stories. If they don't break any of Lit's rules, and they were worth writing, surely they are worth defending.

This is true. As has been said, it's a private site with its own rules, and even though things slip through the cracks, the rules are still there.

It is a shame that the OP was blindsided, and it sounds like that's the result of someone targeting them, not any genuine problems. Laurel did say they notify the author about a removed story, so it's not just gone for ever, and she also said that they will reinstate the story if it's appropriate and if she's wrong.

Rules are rules, as you said, and if you are going to come close to breaking them -- and it doesn't sound like the OP did -- you need to be ready for some backlash. Also, it's the internet. There are trolls and other nasty people. We all need to find a way to deal. Unfortunately.

Sorry to disagree Pennlady,

but I wasn't notified that my stories were even being considered as having broken any of LIT.'s rules nor that they were being taken down by Laurel or anyone from LIT. If I hadn't seen my most recent story the day it posted and read the comments, I wouldn't have known they were down and I got lucky because I checked to see if it had posted because it was down the next day.
I only saw that they were no longer in my story list after seeing that comment. I had to go to my submission summary page to even find them and found the rejection notice on all three.
