So it's shirt-sleeves in the Office at present?. :)
How nice!; it was 57 in my garage this afternoon. I didn't take too long to do the job!

For an office job I prefer 71 or above... It's 71 now! ROOM TEMPERATURE!!!

*takes off jacket just in time to leave for lunch*

Uh...

I didn't know there was THAT much sugar in Heinz Tomato Soup.

My blood sugar rating rocketed!

I've found some things so high in sugar that they were scary.

Most of the so called healthy cereals have more sugar than a kids cereal. Oatmeal (Plain) and Cheerios are the only two I've found with 0 sugar.

Also beware of alcohol sugar. It is still sugar but is released at a slow rate that can cause all kind of problems.

Erm, Alcohol sugar ?
Wassat ?
:)

There is sugar in most alcoholic drinks. Some non-alcoholic lagers and beers have had the sugar removed so are suitable for some diabetics.

The combination of alcohol and sugar can cause diabetic complications - worse than sugar alone.

How will alcohol affect my blood sugar control?

Different alcoholic drinks will have varying effects on your blood sugar. It also depends how much you drink. A single alcoholic drink (a 330ml bottle of beer, medium glass of wine) may not have a huge effect on your overall blood sugar.

If you have more than a single drink, most alcoholic drinks will tend to initially raise your blood sugar.

Typically beers, lagers, wines, sherries and liqueurs will have this effect. However, alcohol inhibits the liver from turning proteins into glucose which means you're at a greater risk of hypoglycemia once your blood sugars start to come down. If you have a number of these drinks, you can expect to see a rise in blood sugar followed by a steady drop a number of hours later, often whilst asleep. People who take insulin, in particular, therefore need to be wary of hypoglycemia.

Each person will have a slightly different reaction to alcoholic drinks so it’s well worth using blood tests to check how your body responds to it.

I haven't been here in ages. Lots of new faces. Some old faces *waves hi*. Just thought I'd pop in.

Water in the basement. Not sure who to call. No emergency or weekend number for township services...

Depends on where it's coming from. Inside: call a plumber. Outside; a contractor.

We're not sure where it's coming from, that's the problem. We thought it was a problem with the sump pump but that's on the other side of the basement from where the water is. Plus the water keeps showing up in places it wasn't before. We did find one pipe that was leaking on the outside, but it wasn't leaking before. It's all odd and of course it happens on a Sunday.

We have had a ton of rain and before that snow, so part of the issue may simply be so much water in the ground.

I discovered why the transformer I'm using was removed from it's original equipment.
One winding is open circuit.
It's not the one I use. . .
:)

Water issues fixed. :) At least for the moment. The culprit: about 18" of tree root.

:D That plot bunny needs to be shot.

It gives a whole new meaning to the subject of rooting.

Bunnies indeed. I even had to stop my shower before I was finished. :p However, we are good now. Not sure if we might need to get rid of a tree, though. :(

Just have your lines cleaned once a year and you should be able to leave the tree, maybe more than once if the roots grow aggressively. Glad you figured it out. :)

Determined blighters, aren't they ?

Just 30 years or so ago my father planted the family Christmas tree out in the front garden. It was better that simply throwing it away on Twelfth Night. Now it is the tallest tree in the road. Twenty-five, thirty metres? Something like that.

Wait a while then let the local council have it ?
