Hi all, I am new on here and also nervous :rose: but thought I would push through the nerves and say hello. Im 31 and I consider myself a submissive although I have no physical experience of it. I have had relationships that have been along those lines but I seem to not allow myself the freedom to express myself how I want to. Anyway, I have made this step...hooray. Thanks for reading.. xxx

Hi HannaRose, Welcome to Lit, no need to be nervous at all. Here you can express yourself however you wish. Enjoy, and be yourself, however that may be. :)

No need to be nervous - all of us were new here and to BDSM at some point, and had to learn to "allow [ourselves] the freedom to express [ourselves] how [we] want[ed] to."

As for considering yourself a submissive, put down that copy of "50 Shades" ;) and find a post by Stella Omega. In her signature line, you'll find a link to her essay on subs, Dom/mes, Tops and bottoms: Read it. You may find that your desires fit an entirely different category... or that of submissive. It's an enlightening explanation for many of how different people fit into different niches in the BDSM culture.

Just a little guidance here: Don't fall into the electronic arms of the first Dom who tells you to PM him. Use the same "street smarts" you use when a guy in a bar offers you a drink.

BDSM Talk is designed for discussion of your questions, concerns and issues regarding the BDSM culture. Its daughter forum, the BDSM Cafe, talks about damn near everything else in the universe, mostly from the viewpoint(s) of people who live in the culture or have an interest in it. Wander through both fora, put in your $0.02 worth when you feel like it, and welcome to the community!

Hiya thankyou for your advice and welcomes, I did try and look for Stella Omega but un successfully...maybe I am looking in the wrong place and as interesting as fifty shades is I have actually read a lot more literature on the whole BDSM scene.. Don't think ill find a Christian Grey lurking anywhere nearby as great as that thought is. x

Welcome both Hannah and Izzy, I hope you find what you need. It took me a while, a few false starts and promising contacts that petered out, a couple quite rudely, so the advice above is sound.

Happy to chat about my errors and share anything I can, but just read and watch for a while, subscribe to a thread or two and dive in when confidence says its right. A current sub arrived out of this approach and she seems to be enjoying the trust now, patience pays off!

Welcome to the boards.
I would just like to point any Ukers to the BDSM Chat where we have a very friendly thread.
Enjoy your journey and stay safe xx

Good morning and greetings, Hannah. I hope you enjoy your experiences here on Lit, as well as possibly expanding your knowledge and horizons. :)

I'm new to this site, although I have know what I wanted for a long time! Having read Sir Winston's essay, I may be one of those Dominant Bottoms...

In the event that you - or anyone else new who's following this thread - hasn't found Stella's essay, you can find it from her profile page.
