Another question about submitting stories

This story I have been writing. I wrote the first 3 chapters in early 2010, and the latest in 12/2013. I was wondering. I now have another 4 chapters ready to submit but figure I should wait some time between each subsequent chapter I plan to submit - you know, to give readers time to see that a new chapter was written and submitted before being bombarded by another newer and more recent chapter.

My question is what in your opinion is a decent length of time to wait between submitting one chapter and then the next, in order to allow readers this grace period? Just 2 weeks or so, or a month or so?

Submission time is from 5 to 7 days at present so one a week should be about right. Or you can submit them all and one time and they will come out over 4 consecutive days.

In my experience, you'll get the best response by releasing chapters either weekly or twice weekly, if you already have the whole story complete. You maintain more of the initial readership, and they stay engaged - voting and commenting.

The regular presentation of your name on the various new story locations also attracts extra attention, which will serve you well in the long run.

If it's not done, and you expect it may be a while, then you may very well want to space the chapters out to give you time to do so. I'd base how long upon how long you think it's going to take to finish the story. Try to keep the releases regular and even-spaced, but I wouldn't go more than a month between, regardless.

Going to toss my two cents in here.

I would not submit a chapter until the previous one posted. Reason being let's say for some odd reason ch 3 gets rejected, then a day later 4 comes out? Now people read 4 before 3 and everything is all screwed up.

I never took that chance.

I've submitted a couple series all at once, with comments to Laurel that they ARE in a series, and if an earlier chapter is rejected, to please reject all following chapters too. I haven't had any of those rejected, but I'm ready, just in case.
