I've only sat in rows 40-60 on the sideline (I was also at the Big Chill). You have a good view of the entire sheet, except on the ice along the near boards, which happens no matter the venue or where you sit. There was also consensus in my family that you felt at least as close as you do sitting in the upper level at the X, though you have a much better/shallower viewing angle.

Snow in the eyes wasn't an issue, just snow settling and melting on your pants. Wouldn't have been a problem had we brought a blanket, but we ended up getting some free signs to place over our laps.
