Non-alcoholic Eggnog + Sake = Nogasake

Small amout of nutmeg, and varied mix, for the taste of your preference. I got the recipe from some stupid movie or show, I don't really remember, but it turned out to be epic. You should try it if you can stand eggnog or sake, it's worth it. I mix mine 60/40 eggnog.

No shit? Eggnog and sake? I like both so I'll have to try it. Kinda weird thinking of eggnog without the usual rum or brandy.

Edited to add: looked it up and the recipe calls for three parts eggnog to one part sake. I see you prefer more sake ;)

As should we all :)

No seriously, I only do that cause eggnog is all kinds of thick and gooey, (yeah, I typed it) so the thinner it is, the more you can drink. I mix it to the point where the sake wins and the eggnog is flavor. It's stupid good at any ratio though, and tastes way better than you'd think it does, as long as the sake is as cold as the eggnog. Whatever you do, don't let it get warm.

The oddest part, to me, is non-alcoholic eggnog tastes almost exactly the same as the alcoholic stuff. I could never figure that one out.

But isn't Eggnog supposed to have an element of Brandy already mixed in it ?.

Try Advocaat (it's Dutch) & Cherry Brandy.

Get out one brown bottle of Uncle's best shine.

Put three ice cubes in a large tumbler.

Set glass aside.

Take long pull from bottle.

Stagger to living room with bottle in hand.

Forget ice. Ring in the New Year.

Hot Buttered Rum?

I need a good recipe for Hot Buttered Rum. Anyone?

You rang?

Hot Buttered Rum Cocktail
Prep Time: 10 min
Inactive Prep Time: 1 min
Cook Time: 10 min
Level: Easy
Serves: 10 to 12 servings

1 stick unsalted butter, softened
2 cups light brown sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon grated nutmeg
Pinch ground cloves
Pinch salt
Bottle dark rum
Boiling water

In a bowl, cream together the butter, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and salt. Refrigerate until almost firm. Spoon about 2 tablespoons of the butter mixture into 12 small mugs. Pour about 3 ounces of rum into each mug (filling about halfway). Top with boiling water (to fill the remaining half), stir well, and serve immediately.

I can't drink this anymore because of the incredible quantities of sugar in it but damn, it's good!

You rang?
YUM! Thank you! That does sound good. And I like that you can make the butter way ahead of time. I always make a simple but warming yuletide dinner on Dec. 24th and I was thinking that this time around some kind of after-dinner drink would be nice. This sounds perfect. :rose:

Anyone got a trusty recipe for Gluehwein/mulled wine? It shouldn't be complicated, but I’ve never made it at home, so help is appreciated.

Typical Molly magic. Thank you for the morning's smile.
[PS. I wish I could drink it.]

I have a friend that has a slight medical problem. His metabolism runs very high. Because of this he has the energy of like a 12 year old. He's more bouncy than Tigger.:D

He was told by his doctor that he could give him something to help slow it down a it but my friend doesn't want to take pills. (Doesn't really trust doctors).

Now what does this have to do with drinks? Well to keep him at a health weight (He will anorexic up real quickly) his doctor advised him to drink Ensure or something similar with his meals. AN extra 300 calories per meal basically.

I go over to a Christmas party at his house and he has pitchers full of mixed drinks. Mudslides, white Russians, and a very good vanilla peppermint schnapps drink he hasn't named.

All made with Ensure and crushed ice.

Cafe Latte plus Vodka- makes a very good White Russian

Dark Chocolate and butter pecan- was a nice Mudslide, little different but nice.

Vanilla and peppermint Schnapps- oh my god that was so good.

I got hammered and I think I put on a few pounds.

1 Glass

1 Bottle Captain Morgan White

1 Liter Water

Ice

Fill glass with ice, add Captain Morgan to level desired and add a splash of water.
Stir and drink. NO extra sugar or other harmful additives....*smile*

BONUS - if you can't finish one before you go to bed, put it in the fridge for the next day....just add ice and more of the Captain and you're ready to go.

Take one measure of Martini Rosso [see here]

One measure of Vodka (good stuff, ya know?)

Please the two into a glass over ice and swirl or stir.

Add a little Lime juice to taste.

Swirl and drink.

I had to drink Ensure when I was pregnant with my daughter because I couldn't eat anything for the first three months. Lost a ton of weight and looked great, but I don't think I could drink Ensure ever again.

Here's our Christmas Eve tradition, second generation.

1. Carefully arrange a plate of cookies for Santa. Leave a couple of carrots on the plate for the Easter Bunny, I mean the reindeer.

2. Place two good beers (this generation it's local IPA) next to the plate.

3. Tuck the kiddies into bed.

4. Drink the beer ASAP, before it gets warm.

We're not too fancy at our house.

Cheers!

Hot buttered bourbon.

I usually just grate fresh nutmeg in a mug of two/thirds water with a cinnamon stick, microwave for a minute or two, add a sliver of butter & top with bourbon.
Once I curl up on the couch with one of those I'm not moving for awhile.

My gluhwein is almost as easy. Simmer a half gallon of local cider on the stove, add whole cloves & cinnamon sticks to taste, simmer a bit until your whole house smells like an apple cinnamon bun, pour two/thirds full into a thermos or carafe, top with one/third vodka.

Take a sip of any strong liquor

Gag

Go to the garage to smoke a bowl instead like a civilized individual.

My sophomore year at college I went to a party and got blackout-drunk on five shots of Southern Comfort in twenty minutes. Ever since then, I've had a strong taste and smell aversion to alcohol, but I still liked to party with a few friends. they made a game of it. I would smoke a little weed, and they would try to mix a drink that I liked the taste of. Only two or three drinks ever made it.

A very weak mixture of strawberry rum mixed with raspberry tea snapple.

White Russians

And vanilla coffee with rum.

Rum by itself makes me gag the second hardest out of all the alcohols (worst is whiskey, worst will always be whiskey) but the only combos that ever worked for me had rum in them. Go figure.

I had Ensure when I was undergoing Radiation Therapy; but I had to inject it to the PEG tube. It wasn't until I'd been doing it for a while that the dietician meant I should shoot two, three times a day. I managed to loose a lot of weight in a remarkably short time.
But I'd love to meet the evil-minded little horror who decided that 28 bottles should all have the same flavour; vanilla. "But HP," the chemist cried, "you inject it."
"Have you ever burped?" I replied.
I got assorted flavours thereafter.

My doctor won't let me have any more of it!

It seems strange that friends do not seem to care for (look after) friends.
And you should have been told not to drink so much so fast.
