My late uncle (dad's brother-in-law) and my 2nd Cousin (also my father's) were veterans. Frank was a tailgunner in a Lancaster and flew in the bombing of Dresden. His was the only squadron where all members made it home alive.

Off the war stuff - that isn't until Monday. Besides, when I read that poem, it makes me cry. It is too soon since my father's passing.

Saw her today, but only for about 10 minutes. She was minding the store of the woman with whom she lives. She looked cute as ever. Had a bit of a tiff with my mom about her, as she isn't thrilled with her son dating an 18-year old.

I can understand it - after all, Miranda is only 6 months older than my sister's oldest and a few years younger than my brother's oldest. I get it. What I have to stress, over and over again is the fact that A) she makes me frickin' HAPPY and B) whatever happens will be OUR choice. I will not do anything with Miranda that Miranda herself isn't cool with.

My mother also said something that may have been the dumbest and most offensive thing she ever said to me. I still can't believe it came out of her mouth. After all these years, she still doesn't know me. I will just chalk it up to her being nearly 77 and slowly evolving into HER mother (I see it more every day)

That is so nice that you seen her. Your mom seems to be like mine in a way. Whatever makes you and Miranda or rather Miranda and you happy is all that matters. I don't know where anyone else is, but I enjoy your company.

I understand my mother's concerns in a way, but she needs to back off. She is worried I might get hurt again and the age difference bothers her. Okay - no matter what age Miranda would be, the risk of getting hurt is there - for both of us. Nor did I decide out of the blue to ask Miranda out, the clues and hints were there. I'd known her for months and originally thought she was in her early 20's. Once I learned the truth, I didn't consider it until subtle flirtation started.

Perhaps I am reading more into this than is there - hard to say. Only time will tell. I had (I hope have, it's wonky right now) a friend who has good instincts about these things. She'd probably be able to advise me, but she's been MIA for months now.

Today, we have been touring all around the local "flea markets" or "car boot sales" in the area. We were looking for something old and/or unique that someone might have cast off, yet retains a value at an auction. An idea TRT and our eldest. Dreams of making lots of money it seems :) Personally, it was interesting, but it was so cold today, I think my nipples decided to pop off! :D

For me it was my grandfather. WWII veteran 101st airborne. served in the islands. was on Okinawa when they raised the flag. I am second generation 101st airborne. my service was the first gulf war.

For those who know my history, unfortunately my great maternal grand parents were Italian Fascists, so I try to keep out of these conversations, even though my brother serves in the UK armed forces...

sins of the father do not pass to the sons and daughters. look at America. many of those who served in WWI and WWII had relatives who served on the wrong side of the civil war.

Yep. It's from one of the waffle shops here in Korea. A waffle with fresh fruit and ice cream. I believe the one in my picture was a coffee waffle with vanilla and coffee ice creams, a banana, kiwi, strawberry, and mandarin orange.

Delicious.
