But I could temporarily kill it with a hammer...
A star would knock it out just about the whole level
I should dig out my nes

Installing the new final fantasy. Figure if I don't like it I can trade it for the new batman and get most of my money back

Oh cool! Let me know if you need any help. Have fun!
Good cus I'm just going to leave you at it's mercy for hours.
Stone Mario could kill it and it also dies to koopa shells. Once I figured that out I'd just carry one the entire level and dare that smarmy son of a bitch to come near me.
Mine never wandered too far, when I was a kid some guy had an "arcade" machine he'd rigged up by building a cabinet, making an arcade controller (I assume he ripped apart a NES advantage but who knows they aren't that hard to wire if you know how) and I still have it in there. What I need to do is set up a SNES/Genesis/PS1 one and maybe an N64 one though I don't know how I'd do an analog joy stick like that or how I'd set the Z button either.
I should probably snag one of those. I'm sure they are illegal but who gives a shit. My Nintendos (My dad and frankly me as well have a habit of going to garage sales and rather than dig through the box of junk that someone is throwing out just offering a fair price to walk off with the box. So over the years I've acquired like three NESes, 4 PS1s, god only knows how many copies of SMB3 I've had at one point. Not having all those wires hooked into one television is a fucking deal though. I don't like my current set up and all it's got is a 360 and a Wii (though I plan on snagging a PS3 as soon as the PS4 shows up and drives it's price through the floor. A blu-ray player shall be mine!
Are you guys not /on/ computers? Why don't you just get an emulator?
My little brother has my (which was actually my mom's) nes, and it was one of the best days of my life. I found it randomly, in an old junk house while i was looking for stuff for the cabin, and Cammy was like, "I want that."
So we took it in. And it was fucking fucked. Filthy and beat to hell, and before I could stop him (he was a tiny child at this point) he hit it with a hammer trying to get the face plate off.
So I fucking called the Nintendo help line. Because they have a lifetime guarantee. And it took the dude a few minutes to understand what I wanted (Gamecube was the console at the time and he thought i was talking about a gamecube). Then eventually he was like, "Oh- a Nintendo. From the 80s?"
And told me to send it in, and they would fix it. So I did. And rather than fixing it, they sent me a new, weird ass NES. It was /tiny/, and the games went in the top, like a snes. And the controllers were rounded.
But they fucking replaced it. For free. Some 20 years later. And that is part of the reason I'm such a Nintendo fanboy.
While I will emulate older games whenever possible I try to avoid doing that. Besides most games I can't play with my keyboard and I've never found a USB controller that doesn't suck. According to legend there is a way to get your 360 controllers to work but I've never figured it out.
Very cool! I now have my emulators up and running and I have Gemfire on the SEGA and Romance of the Three Kingdoms on the PS2 emulator.
I didn't even realize they were by the same game writer, or I forgot and was reminded that I have very specific tastes in my favorite games.
I could never get disc based emulators to work.
That's a shame. I had no luck until the last month or so, and we got a USB controller and it works really well.
Of course now I'm playing Final Fantasy...but now I have a fun option for when internet connection is down but electricity is on.
You're welcome.![]()

I always tried the emulators where you could actually use the disc. Maybe that was the problem
