BENEDICK: A miracle! here’s our own hands against our hearts. Come, I will have thee; but, by this light, I take thee for pity.
BEATRICE: I would not deny you; but, by this good day, I yield upon great persuasion; and partly to save your life, for I was told you were in a consumption.
BENEDICK: Peace! I will stop your mouth.

I do love Richard Burton and he does have that great voice. I got to see him at Lincoln Center in a revival of Camelot.

That was a good day.

Good lord.. Dude..

You're aware that being on ignore means that I don't have to see your posts unless I click "view post" right, moron? Like I did right there... *gasp* Fucking magic!

However, knowing you, and what little value your posts normally contain it was a pretty good bet that you were still whipping a deceased equine (did it consent to that?) Honestly, I didn't have to read your posts to know what your ignorant ass was up to.

You're carrying a sputtering torch and rusted pitchfork and being ignored, as you should be. You just aren't smart enough to see that you are a mob of one.

Take your self-righteous crusade, shine it up real nice, and shove it up your ass.

So...

...that's a "yes" to you've always been a cuckold, right?

Raul Julia was also in the musical version of "Two Gentlemen of Verona" which is one of the weirdest plays I have ever been in.

Really, really weird. Not a worthwhile remake.

Helen Mirren is awesome. Some of the costumes are amazing. Ariel is the standout.

Russell Brand is occasionally funny as a comedian but he's a terrible actor. I have no idea why she hangs out with him, and even less now than I did before...unless she just wants to humiliate him beyond redemption. Yup, I think that's what she's up to.

Finding Richard is WONDERFUL.

This is one of those "How the hell did I miss this?!" pieces.

Al Pacino's accent is terrible. Why didn't they just convince him to use an American accent?

I suppose there is no "they" because he's probably in charge.

I'm terribly sorry for British listeners of American actors who would be perfectly happy to watch them act if they weren't mangling the language while mangling the accent.

And thanks for Hugh Laurie, again.

Not Everybody Has The Ear To Do Accents. It's a specialty. Acting is a separate thing entirely.

This thread is Aces.

Acting Shakespeare is still amazing.

Finding Richard is...kind of a study of why Americans can suck at Shakespeare, because they can take every moment of fun out of it by over-intellectualizing it and thinking instead of feeling and being. Running throughout the whole thing are British actors saying "Hey, really, it's not that hard, you're making it too hard." and American actors persisting in Methoding the hell out of it until it's unintelligible.

God Almighty, you have Derek Jacobi at the beginning and the end of the movie as the Chorus, doing what he does, being human and amazing and technically brilliant at revealing the heart of the matter. Didn't you listen to him at all? DO THAT!

Too much of the wrong effort obscures and complicates. It should be organic and from the heart and the pure joy and love of the thing. If you're just too busy saying "LOOK AT WHAT A GOOD ACTOR I AM!" - especially if you're not really that good of an actor, it's distracting.
