Boss-Employee Gap Legislation

No, the CEOs, and management elite live a better life due to outsourcing, whereas everyone else has seen their real wages declining since the early 70s.

Bullshit...even our min wage folks live better than most of the planet. You know where they buy all their shit? Wal Mart......poor ass Americans living better than most off the backs of poor ass brown/yellow people.

And you're ignoring the obvious solution. Pay people more globally so that costs rise to reasonable levels, and if people are being paid reasonable amounts, they can buy the reasonably-priced things that reflect the actual labor.

It isn't that damned hard.

Things that aren't made with horrible labor conditions actually say "Fair Trade" on them. The FDA has a label for that.

You know.

For your boycott.

Whenever you decide to start.

No, it's not bullshit, it's factually accurate. We're the richest country in the world, and our real wages have been in decline for everyone except the highest echelon of earners since the 1970s. If you'd like information on the matter, I'd be happy to provide it to you.

And I can promise you that i can show you plenty of 3rd world conditions across this country.

I don't think I was crying or horrible or bashing.

So you support practically every company out there bringing us awesome products at a bargain price by using cheap labor?

I'm being reasonable and you aren't.

Ted Bundy said the same thing.

You have absolutely no reason why this simple thing couldn't be done

I don't have to have a reason why not, there is no need to justify retention of privacy.....that's not how shit works.

You claim we need to force companies to disclose their financial information.....you need to justify the invasion of privacy.

Fuck even cops have to justify getting in peoples business and that's while they are investigating crimes.

except that "everybody is evil but only Botanyboy admits it and that's why he's so awesome and Recidiva is all sorts of untrue things."

I never said that crazy girl.......youz just makin shit up.

I think you could try harder to be a decent human being and that's what I get from this conversation.

Try harder to be a decent human being? How so? Crying for the people I took advantage of? Telling others they should try to be a decent human for taking advantage of the same people I take advantage of to improve my life by crying with me??

Nah....I wouldn't do that....I try not to be a hypocrite.

Also, you could keep your splattering righteousness from trying to derail something that isn't as you're characterizing it and doesn't deserve to be derailed.

So tell me then why does the government need to force companies to disclose their payroll??

That's fantasy world.....you need to wake up and smell reality.

Ain't got shit to do with the fact even poor Americans live better than most of the planet...win by a landslid.

And I can promise you that i can show you plenty of 3rd world conditions across this country.

Oh yea you can find pockets of it.....and they still aren't as bad and not anywhere close to the same scale as moderately nice places like China.

If you live in the US you live a privileged life most human beings can't even imagine.

Let me draw you a picture of what I see in words. Say I'm a privileged Northern US white lady (imagine that!) in the era before the Civil War who says "I've seen that some awful things are going on. I think slavery should end. I think people should be freed and I am going to do what I can to speak out and change the laws."

Your response would of course be: Fuck you, you white supremacist bitch with your cotton dress and your fucking feelings that are pissing me off! You can't do any good and you're worse than the slave drivers who provide meals and a good job to those slaves!

End scene.

That's what I see. I'm not the absolute whatever you're making me out to be. But you are being an obstructionist douche.

Is that not a thing that anybody can get? Do I just think it is because I do taxes? Because I was under the impression that was information that anyone could get already. I mean, I can literally get payroll for just about any company.

No, but you are the chick that says, "I've seen that some awful things are going on. I think slavery should end. I think people should be freed and I am going to do what I can to speak out and change the laws."

While her slaves pick her crops. Without freeing any of them.

It's just a lie, really.

No, not pockets of it, it's endemic of our system of commerce.

I'd live in a mid-earner highrise in shanghai over any place in compton, 3rd or 5th wards, the south bronx, fort totten, north philly, or englewood.

I'm not the absolute whatever you're making me out to be.

You speak out against them...but you give them your money, you reap the benefits from what you speak against. You're a hypocrite.

I didn't think peoples income was public info man...maybe in certain states?

I know I advocate growing your own food, but I just went out to get some spinach and there's fucking... rabbits or something. Because I don't have any. I'm going to try to make burritos with cabbage.

I predict that it's going to suck.

How the fuck are pests eating my goddamn food when I have 4 cats and 2 dogs out there? Did they just kinda sit there and watch something eat my food? This is some hardcore bullshit. Now I'll have to go buy or bum fucking veggies. And i will bitch about it.

I'm about to go Mr McGreggor on somebody, I swear to god.

Botany, I don't know why you're denying people who are privileged and know it the right to be aware of it and the right to have the morality to try to do something about it, however small.

Do you really think that privileged people are all blind and that it's a binary system?

Privilege = Immorality

Underprivileged = Moral

You're forcing a binary system where only the underprivileged can ever do something about their lack of privilege.

In reality it's often someone like me, who has privilege and has a voice, that has to call on the vicious pricks to do something about it and stop being vicious pricks.

BECAUSE I have privilege, I am obligated to do something about it if I want to have any inherent morality at all.

Company payroll is tho, isn't it? I mean, companies keep getting in trouble for it. And I know that you can go to http://www.glassdoor.com/Salary/Walmart-Salaries-E715.htm for US based companies. And with the TaxID number you can get into their accounting records. So... I dunno. It never occurred to me that you couldn't.

I'd like to see the legislation pass. It's good information. Knowing the disparity between the highest paid and the lowest paid in an organization is information that's important to investors and consumers.

There have been complaints that this is intrusive and difficult to calculate and to that I say - pshaw.

It's more important in an ethical and an economic sense than the glossy cover pictures on the investor prospectus. If you could go to that trouble, you can go to this trouble.

Pass it. Put the data out there and see what happens. Maybe...shame at conspicuous greed? Maybe...treating people a little better? Maybe...shareholders can see whether or not the company they invest in pays an owner multiple millions and the majority of their workforce a pittance?

Let's see what makes companies great, fair treatment or squeezing every last penny from production and giving it to shareholders and a few folks at the top.

  • It's an utter and complete waste of time and money.

  • It makes absolutely no difference whatsoever to the vast majority of investors or consumers.

  • This is a perfect example of how the U.S. economy has all but been wrecked by sclerotic regulation and dumbass do-gooders.

  • It's idiotic.

  • It's none of your business.

  • How about companies that are privately owned? L. L. Bean, for example. S.C. Johnson, for another.

  • How about so-called tax-exempt conglomerates duplicitously engaged in commerce such as National Geographic, AARP, NPR, PBS, Smithsonian, Greenpeace, et al.?

You have lost your mother fuckin' mind and gone down loony liberhul ave. if you think poverty in america is anything like that of a 3rd world nation.

I'd live in a mid-earner highrise in shanghai over any place in compton, 3rd or 5th wards, the south bronx, fort totten, north philly, or englewood.

Well no shit....I would rather be in China's top 5% than america's lower 1....

But america's lower 1% lives a fuck load better than China's lower 1% and it isn't nearly as big either.

No, that's simply not true. It's a load of corporate propaganda, that has no basis in reality.

If you live poor in China, you live with subsistence wages... If you live poor in the US, you live with subsistence wages.

I addressed the cost.

So humor me. It matters to me. I am a potential investor.

This is so ridiculously low tech and so elegant that of COURSE people know it will change how businesses are assessed.

I don't think groups should be tax exempt to begin with. Do away with tax exemption.

Report it to the government when you do your taxes, one extra box, have the information available for consumers on request.

Report it to the shareholders in the same prospectus where you say how awesome you were this year and how much you got away with since you are probably overseas and tax exempt. Evil fucks will give you more money, because they already know. People of conscience will hesitate or boycott.

Only you can reduce their incomes !!!

If you don't like the "1%" and want to take their money away, there are simple steps you can take:

STOP
  • watching Hollywood movies,
  • watching NFL football,
  • watching the NBA,
  • looking at baseball,
  • watching NHL hockey,
  • buying popular music,
  • watching big-time "Kolledge" football, or
  • looking at NCAA Division I basketball.

You don't have any fucking right to know what a company pay's it's employees......

You're forcing a binary system where only the underprivileged can ever do something about their lack of privilege.

As long as the privileged like you keep supporting their lack of privilege that will be exactly the case.

In reality it's often someone like me, who has privilege and has a voice, that has to call on the vicious pricks to do something about it and stop being vicious pricks.

I'm sorry you're voice denouncing it means jack and or shit standing next to the money you spend supporting it.

BECAUSE I have privilege, I am obligated to do something about it if I want to have any inherent morality at all.

Yes cry all you want...speak out against it.

You already report it to the government when you do your taxes. State and Federal. You get certain tax breaks for having so many employees in certain pay ranges. That's a thing that you have to do. Even small businesses have to do it if they have more than 7 employees. And some businesses can't afford to do that. That's why places like hair salons don't "hire" cosmologists. They are freelance agents who rent their respective chairs. Because that means that the company isn't taxed as if they're employees.

No, that's simply not true. It's a load of corporate propaganda, that has no basis in reality.

You need to go visit China......there isn't a slum in america that even comes close. Compton is fucking BALLIN' compared to 99.999% of Beijing.

This is bullshit deflection and it doesn't work on me.

Reci, it's not deflection, it's the answer. Boycotting is literally the answer. People can tell you that all day, but if you like your shit better than you like poor people then just be a horrible person. Don't act like you aren't because you're doing... something that no one seems to care about. Since you can already get that information.
