Okay. I thought I saw this practice on here but damned if I can find it.

Anyone know the name for the practice of heating a needle and creating a 'tattoo' with it? Not an actual tattoo. I think I recall it being fairly temporary, lasting somewhere around 3-6 months or so.

If I am remembering correctly, you draw a design on the skin, heat a needle and prick the skin with heated needle. There is no ink involved but the resulting 'pops' (?) create a design.

[laughs] does anyone know what I am thinking of? For the life of me I can't remember the name of this practice nor can I find the thread where I saw it mentioned.

Duh!!! Nevermind I figured it out. Cell popping! That's what I was looking for.

Cell popping is done with a violet wand, too. Just in case you were wandering. Full of useless information, I am.

Actually any information you have would be greatly appreciated. Even if it is to simply point me to the original thread as I can't seem to find it.

I admit I am a little fascinated by it. I am in the process of reading up on it. I don't want anything permanent. And it looks like if you treat it as a burn and are careful you reduce the risk of a permanent burn/brand. Which would suit me perfectly.

Now I am trying to figure out where I go to get it. A tattoo place? do it at home on my own (really don't like this idea)? Or look for a community event in my area? [laughs] All of the above?

There have been a number of threads on the subject of branding in this forum. I'm sure each one had at least a little about the temporary brands you speak of. The cell popping process lasts for a couple years, I think.

You could do a search in this forum for threads that have the word branding included, or it might be easier to check out edge play, because branding will be a sub category of it. I guess I could also provide a link to it. Here.

Look through these threads for discussions on cell popping. I know there was at least one thread where it was discussed. I hope it is in one of these. Like I said before, you can do this with a violet wand, but if you don't already own one, they are pretty expensive.

Whatever method you end up attempting, keep the area clean both before and after, so you don't get an infection.
