Should the USSA boycot the Russian antigay games?

In fact, dozens of countries are already planning to boycott the Rio antistraight games in 2016.

Tell us again how your religion entitles you to dictate family values to other people, then explain how that is real freedom. HAHAHAHAHAHA fucking NUT.

I love how loyal the New Left is to a country with a mixed economy and strong social welfare programs like Russia. Shows what their priorities are.

They are bourgois phonies, as we always suspected.

1) US athletes choosing to compete at an Olympics being held in a host-country that does not tolerate homosexuality are not representing the tolerant nature of the U.S.A.

2) Re: public outburst of "gayness: is there an expectation that gay athletes will suddenly get atop a float and dance around in their underwear to lyrics by Cher in any street in Sochi?

1.) If that is their particular feeling on the matter then by all means, don't attend. It's up to the individual to make that decision.

2.) Or perhaps march with a 'rainbow flag' or 'rainbow nails, or some other such demonstration of their sexual preference.

Taking it to the point of ridiculousness I can see the opening ceremony now. First comes the US Flag followed by the 'Hetero' detachment and their flag. (Need to design a 'Hetero' flag I suppose.) Followed by the 'Rainbow' detachment. Of course the African-Americans, Latinos, and Asians will want to get in on the act. The Bi's are going have a fit over that and want in on the play too. Then there will be a huge fight over who marches at the head of the column. Leading, of course, the the ultimate expression of everyone having their own flag. The media will love it, no dead time in the commentary. "And now comes Wan Hun Lo, and as you can see by his flag he's an Asian bisexual with strong homosexual preferences. He's competing in the men's synchronized swimming event."

"Time to change the channel Martha."

"I think you're right Fred."

You're a joke alt, but I'll humor you.

Not having family values is not "freedom" you stupid alt. In fact, you can't have freedom without family values. The state has to grow to fulfill the roles that the traditional family fulfilled.

Tell me again how being allowed to define your own family values isn't freedom but having some LOON like you throw a bible at us under penalty of law is freedom.

Come on...esplain bish

You know perfectly well religion has NOTHING to do with the issue being discussed or with people's legitimate concerns over the breakdown of the family structure in post-modern society. You also know perfectly well that NOBODY is "dictating" anything to anyone. You also know that my point was that the breakdown of the family has lead to a growth in government and government programs as the state has to assume the role that the two parent family assumed in years gone by and that this leads to an overall net loss of freedom.

You are a liar and a distorter, as well as an alt and asshole. YOU are the NUT.

YOU are the NUT.

Yes it does, the only argument you have against any of your "Breakdown of the modern nuclear family" bullshit is JEZZZUZ GAWWWWWD ALLMITAHHHHH!!! YOU GONNA LEEERNS TO LOVE HIM!!!!!

That's all you got derpina.....without a religious iron fist none of the tyrant bullshit you support exist.

Social programs are irrelevant...we could just as easily tell all of the parasites to go fuck for it like everyone else.

So.....tell me again how you dictating family values to me through legislation = freedom?

You said without family values I don't have as much freedom as I would with the state shoving it's family values up my ass........tell me what family values are you talking about that I need? Yours I assume?

B/c apparently allowing people to define their own is just too much freedom for your fascist ass... so what family values?

I think the Olympics are for the athletes and it's their choice. This is years of their lives they put in for this opportunity.

I'll support those who want to go and support those who want to boycott.

Sorry, I just can't make myself live in fear of someone's nail polish. Better you than me.

Laughter is not generally associated with expressions of fear. But you can project all you want Sparky.

When the athletes started training for what will be for many a one time shot they and the rest of the world had no idea.
And when did the US get tolerant?

No. There is no point to it. Besides if being Hitler wasn't a good enough reason to boycott I'm not sure there is anything that anybody can do that qualifies.

I'm against any boycott, besides, the Jesse Owens story-line is a good one.

2) Re: public outburst of "gayness: is there an expectation that gay athletes will suddenly get atop a float and dance around in their underwear to lyrics by Cher in any street in Sochi?

That could happen. Playing Cher music makes gays go nuts, its in their DNA.....as well as their love for Judy Garland

Absolutely not!!!!!

Regardless of what anyone thinks of Russia's laws, it is their nation and their law. We expect visitors to our nation to respect our laws as well.

The Olympics are an opportunity for the best athletes to attend, compete against one another, and represent their nation. Gay is not a nation, it is a sexual preference. If those athletes that are gay can't exercise the self-control to restrain themselves from public outbursts of 'gayness' perhaps they're the ones that shouldn't attend.

I really stopped paying attention when the games went pro...

I think it is up to the athlete and yes there will be at least one who goes intending upon having their Pussy Riot point made and embarrassing both their host and country because it is what they have been trained to do for so many years now that their actual training has become second fiddle to their evangelistic proselytizing.

"Well, I got a bronze, but even more important, I made a DIFFERENCE!"

If I were to be watching the Olympics, I would want it to be about competition, not politics, but alas, it will be nothing but politics unless you turn the sound down. Our sportscasters have of recent all too often decided to become social justice warriors too.

I can see it now, angry clenched fist adorned with a tight rainbow glove, raised in protest during the medal ceremony. Gay power.

I know that a lot of political wrangling and point counting takes place.

But.

This is one of the only times in my life where I get to see not the powerful countries kick ass, but watch individuals from unknown countries and disadvantaged circumstances kick ass with dignity and humor and grace.

One of my first experiences with the Olympics was in watching the hockey match between USA and Russia, and it was a great impression.

In a practical sense I want to give athletes who want to be seen on a world stage, who work hard and long, the chance to do so without judgment. They are otherwise essentially powerless in the process, and I don't think it's up to me, since I'm only going to sit on my butt and watch, to tell that individual that because I feel some way about some country and their politics...that they can't have the chance. They're not the ones sitting on their butts on the subject.

It's supposed to be a time where countries meet and compete and war is supposed to be set aside. That means political war as well.
