When I Was a Kid....

WIWAK scary movies were suspenseful and original and SCARY, not horrible remakes and "reality" tv.

WIWAK, All in the Family and The Mary Tyler Moore Show were on every Saturday night.

WIWAK I watched The Patty Duke Show and The Donna Reed Show to pick up girls...true story

Ella, I didn't even realize this thread was here. Shows you how self absorbed I am!

One of my fondest WIWAK memories has to do with little critters. I grew up on a very remote farm, lots of acreage, nearest neighbor about three miles away, and when I was very young I'd go off hiking. Our German Shepherd would follow me, as would our two cats. Round trip was at least a mile. First part through the woods, but the last part through dense waist deep grass. The Shepherd did fine, of course, but the poor kitties were exhausted after having to crawl through the thickets of grass. Poor little kitties!

But day after day I would do that, and the kitties always followed me and my dog. :)

When I was a kid Red Schoendienst and Stan Musial were playing baseball for the St. Louis Cardinals.

WIWAK we played outside till the street lights came on. There was no such thing as a couch potato child.

Yes! That must have been the signal for kids all over. Thanks for reminding me.

WIWAK we did BMX biking on schwins that had banana seats... and im still alive

Yup...all over the world eh?

Yep. The cry I heard when I was a child was actually "EEEteNNN!" But games stopped, those that had been hiding came forward, those that had been seeking went away, cowboys stopped shooting at all the bad injuns, and swings suddenly swung empty.

As soon as the second mom's voice started, a bigger child would remind a smaller one it really was time to go home now and sometimes a bigger brother grabbed a smaller brother or sister at his/her hand or arm and would drag it unceremoniously towards home.

WIWAK things were a lot more innocent...

Yes they were. I remember summers I am my brothers would go our seperate ways and be home for dinner. After doing the dishes out until the street lights came on. I don't think there are any places where children can do that anymore.

WIWAK, summers were for vacations. The seashore, the mountains, camping all over the U.S. with my family. Going to bed at night smelling like smoke from the campfire, and falling asleep to the sound of crickets, locusts, and tree frogs.

WIWAK I had The Six Million Dollar Man, Steve Austin, with the telescopic eye and ratchet arm action... who had carnal knowledge of every single one of my sister's big boobied Barbies.

WIWAK we had so much fun during summer vacation!! The moms didn't look like Ella at all. They didn't have sexy legs that lasted all day!!

WIWAK we used to crank call people on the weekends.

lol! WIWAK, I was allowed to answer the phone during dinner because it was almost always sales calls. One evening the caller asked if the refrigerator was running!!!

Hey, I was 7 years old! How did I know????
