Operations Fast & Furious

I thought criminals would get guns even if they were illegal? You're real cute when you have to play for both teams.

We know that's how you feel, it would be easier if you'd be honest.

I see logically stupid dropped by. You don't like Lil fag chihuahua's favorite phrase!!!! Shaddup pereg.

Interesting how claiming Executive Privilege (for a program they claim was NEVER discussed in the White House) completely shut discussion of this scandal down.

If Brian Terry had not been killed with one of the guns, or if the gun had not been left at the scene of the attack, it probably would not even have been discussed at all.

As long as the Violent Mexican Gangs stick to killing each other with the guns helpfully provided by the US Government, apparently no one cares. You know those guns are still out there, still killing and still being found at crime scenes and traced back to that program.

The premise was dumb. Instead of having the Mexicans use their existing (not American gun dealer) supply channels for guns, Let them have easy access to better quality, likely cheaper guns from America for the sole purpose of stigmatizing American gun dealers and their customers.

The obvious reason why gun control laws are ineffectual and therefore unnecessary and probably counterproductive is because violence is higher where guns are restricted. This is demonstrably true in the US. See DC, Chicago, NY, Philadelphia.

The (red herring) counter argument was always "well that is only because the guns come from adjacent unrestricted locales." Of course that is true but irrelevant. A criminal doesn't mind having his contraband shipped from elsewhere. See also drug trafficking and lately trafficking in cigarettes from a low tax state to high tax states. This is basic commerce.

Never deterred by logical retort, Bloomberg and Co. insist that if nationwide they got their way with "reasonable' restrictions, entering names and serial numbers into computers of people with no likelihood of misusing firearms will somehow impact criminals who do not use any of those channels to obtain firearms.

It has been long pointed out that Mexico HAS nearly a full ban on private ownership of firearms and Chicago-level criminal-commited violence with guns . The response of course is that that is the fault of greedy American gun dealers. Except only a very small number of guns recovered at crime scenes are from the US. It was difficult to make straw-man purchases for guns in any quantity in the US.

Gun dealers depend on keeping their FFL's to be able to stay in business. They report all suspicious activity to the BATF. Gun dealers, by the nature of the line of work they are in pay close attention to who is walking into their stores. They know what criminals look like, how they behave, what they ask for. And they call it in.

On the direct order of the administration's BATF, they reluctantly started letting these obvious straw-man purchases go through. We only know this a whistle blower who was and probably still is harassed in violation of the law told us. We can only PROVE this because a smart gun dealer insisted that the BATF come down to his store in person and tell him to do it. He recorded them.

No one was fired, no one was demoted, and certainly Eric Holder did not prosecute anyone in the government for egregious violations of federal weapons statutes.

...and all the administration had to do to kill the story was claim the very same thing that was already decided in the Nixon case. You cannot claim executive privilege where criminal statutes are violated.

...but of course, this is Democrats so it is NOT A SCANDAL.

The thing that is interesting is that these guns are most likely still turning up, still being traced through BATF's files and they are quietly ignoring it.

If not for death of Brian Terry, the Fed-created phony gun trail, combined with furor over various exploited tragedies would have resulted in a ban worse than the Clinton "Ugly, Black Gun Ban." And it would have made no difference.

We know this because we don't have the hoped for Obama Gun Ban, and criminals committing violence with guns is still what it always was, gang members killing other gang members with cheap hand guns. Nothing to do with rifles at all. Except in Mexico where the population is unarmed, and the criminals are armed with even better guns than they had before.

Even with the best efforts of the Obama administration to INCREASE sales to criminals highly likely to commit gun violence, criminals committing violence with guns in Mexico is pretty much what it has been before the program, atrocious.

Is THIS one a scandal yet?

No...mostly only Mexicans died...that's OK with you, right?

And frankly, they would have killed each other anyway. Just would have been an SKS or a Chinese AK, by way of Africa or something.
