The U.S. Supreme Court refused Friday to let California delay the release of thousands of inmates from state prisons to relieve crowding.

In June, a lower court ordered California to release about 10,000 inmates — nearly 8 percent of all state prisoners — by the end of the year to improve to improve medical and mental health treatment. Gov. Jerry Brown last month asked the Supreme Court to delay the order, arguing that it would jeopardize public safety.

Justice Antonin Scalia, joined by Justice Samuel Alito, strongly dissented with the high court's 6-3 one-sentence order Friday, predicting a wave of murders and rapes in the streets of California. Justice Clarence Thomas also disagreed but didn't join Scalia's dissent.

Brown also blasted the decision Friday, saying, "California must now release upon the public nearly 10,000 inmates convicted of serious crimes, about 1,000 for every city larger than Santa Ana."

Democrats are to blame, they have steadfastly refused to build new prisons, they coddle the criminal element for political gain in minority communities. They will have blood on their hands as this outrage plays out in the real world of the innocent.

You can't build and staff new prisons if ya ain't got the money.

And the derp begins with a strong entry. Directly to "blame democrats" and "blood will flow".

It's going to be good.

Just another reason to leave the shaky state. Police protection is inadequate and getting worse. What in the hell is wrong with the Subpreme (no, not a spelling error!)court???

The inmates are running the insane asylum.

Will the last person out of Cacafornia turn out the lights and let the cat run free!!!

Point one out.

Isn't the general assembly a state level body? You mean the republicans serving in that body don't count? I think you've got 11 republicans - a minority, but they're still there.

Or are you only talking about your national representatives (I think you have 15 republicans in congress now).

gotta love CA, as its one government fuck up after another...but the welfare is free!

why stop at 8 kids, come to CA and have 10 more!

free welfare

At least we still have Stand Your Ground (for now). It is part of case law rather than legislative decree in Cali. If a criminal attacks you are still allowed to defend yourself. I'm sure its a matter of time until the pinko-commie-fags in the state legislature outlaw the right to self-defense, but for now we still have it.

I said state wide office. those voted on by all the people. Yes there are some fully castrated Republican eunuchs in the state legislature who serve as furniture in their respective chambers.

Republicans are completely qualified to serve as furniture. In fact you would likely be capable of filling in for a chaise lounge.
