WASHINGTON (AP) — Four out of 5 U.S. adults struggle with joblessness, near poverty or reliance on welfare for at least parts of their lives, a sign of deteriorating economic security and an elusive American dream.
Survey data exclusive to The Associated Press points to an increasingly globalized U.S. economy, the widening gap between rich and poor and loss of good-paying manufacturing jobs as reasons for the trend.
The findings come as President Barack Obama tries to renew his administration's emphasis on the economy, saying in recent speeches that his highest priority is to "rebuild ladders of opportunity" and reverse income inequality.

And the Republican solution to this is to cut taxes on the wealthy, implement a flax tax to hike taxes on the middle class and poor, repeal minimum wage, and reduce health care benefits on people who need them most.

We need to bring back public executions:
NYC welfare food is shipped in barrels to the Dominican Republic - then sold on the black market

Food-stamp fraud in New York has turned into foreign aid — to black-market profiteers in the Dominican Republic.
<outrage snip>
The Federal Government's inspector general estimates that the total amount of fraud detailed above in the entire food stamp program is a miniscule 1.8%.
Now it seems to me there are three possible courses of action:
- Institute massive new government programs to prevent that sort of fraud from happening in the future
- Punish the law-abiding 98.2% who do obey the law by doing away with food stamps altogether
- Shrug your shoulders and say, well, that's an unfortunate cost of doing business
Personally, I'm leaning towards option 3 here
It's probably a lot more seeing how much of the money goes towards foods not considered "basic."
And of course, we have enablers like Rob who don't give a shit. Let's see now, that "miniscule" 1.8% of the 80 billion the program costs amounts to about 1.44 billion. How many single family homes can one buy with that kind of money...what maybe 7000? Who gives a shit right?
Personally I'm leaning towards, Rob's an idiot.
Jesus Christ, so you accept 1.8% of fraud? WTF!
you are a fucking moron, the king of fucking idiots.
but hey, its not YOUR money so lets celebrate these fucktards lost 1.8%
god, stupidity is mind blowing....
