Prosecutor Invokes Martin Luther King




Zimmerman prosecutor Prosecutor Bernie de la Rionda invoked Martin Luther King’s “I Have A Dream” speech in describing the testimony of trial witness Rachel Jeantel.

Rionda described Jeantel as “unsophisticated,” but argued that she is the most valuable witness the jurors have heard from. Jeantel was on the phone with Trayvon Martin moments before he was shot and killed and testified last week that Martin told her that Zimmerman was following him.

Rionda told the jury: “I had a dream…that today, a witness would be judged not on the color of her personality, but the content of her testimony.”


Jeantel’s testimony attracted media attention for her distinctive mannerisms and combative responses, but the prosecutor argued that she is nonetheless one of the most honest and reliable witnesses in the trial.

And her testimony was damning.

She did a horrible job and her context of speech I am sure has nothing to do with intelligence or lack of it, but kids (white and black alike in some cases) enjoy speaking like they are functionally illiterate.

This is a microcosm of this case. The prosecutor couldn't do anything with her obvious belligerent attitude and now has to pull the race card.

If Jeantel's testimony hurts the prosecution it has nothing to do with color, but the girl is ignorant and seemed deliberately so.

Know why? Air of entitlement. That's how teens act today regardless of color. Non respect for anything.

This girl could have helped her friend and instead pretty much helped his killer because she even for a few hours couldn't stop acting like a hoochie mama.

I would love to see Condoleezza Rice run for president. I think she is incredibly smart. By comparison, Hilary Clinton will continue this downward spiral.

He has led America out of the Bush recession, and his leadership will help up to 35 million more Americans get health insurance. He is winding down both of Bush's pre-emptive wars.

His administration is a resounding success, especially compared to the failed Bush administration.

Getting info from CNN is exactly what Obama's critics have said they want him to do? Why should we tax payers give our hard earned money to government agents out collecting intel when CNN offers up the same information for the cost of basic cable?

I'll throw my hat in this ring too. What qualifications does he lack?

First....she is NOT a liberal. She is NOT married to Bill Clinton (that in itself makes her smarter). She is NOT a divisive person in the political world (other than being a Republican).
