Justice for Trayvon??

Was Trayvon Martin High On “Purple Drank”?

Some call it “lean”:

Purple drank is a slang term for a recreational drug popular in the hip hop community in the southern United States, originating in Houston, Texas. Its main ingredient is prescription-strength cough syrup containing codeine and promethazine. Cough syrup is typically mixed with ingredients such as Sprite soft drink or Mountain Dew and pieces of Jolly Rancher candy. The purplish hue of purple drank comes from dyes in the cough syrup. There are numerous slang terms for purple drank, including sizzurp, lean, syrup, drank, barre, purple jelly and Texas tea.

The most popular type of codeine syrup is promethazine-codeine, a prescription cough syrup. The active ingredients are codeine, a narcotic, and the antihistamine medication promethazine. When taken in large quantities, both medications can lead to sedation and altered levels of consciousness. The addition of these antihistamines is intended to deter abuse at high doses (doses higher than recommended can produce extreme somnolence or weakness, and may even cause fatal respiratory depression). In lower doses, these potentiate the opiates.

Prescription cough syrups containing hydrocodone are also used to make the drink, though they are less popular. Songs like “Sippin’ on Some Syrup” by Three 6 Mafia refer to Tussionex, a yellow cough syrup containing extended-release hydrocodone and chlorpheniramine (another antihistamine).

Other hydrocodone-containing syrups such as Histinex HC, Hycotuss, and Hycodan may also be used but have the addition of atropine to deter abuse. Syrup also is made with over-the-counter cough syrups such as Robitussin DM, which contain dextromethorphan as the cough suppressant. Although dextromethorphan is used recreationally, it has dissociative effects as opposed to narcotic.

Dextromethorphan is a synthetic morphine analog[citation needed] that has been on the market in the United States since the 1960s. It is a cough suppressant in small doses, but in large doses it can result in a disassociative state, with hallucinations, similar to that produced by PCP or ketamine.

Via Wikipedia.

I had never hear of it until I saw this Ace of Spades post this morning:

I remember hearing about ‘Robo-ing’ in college but based on my experiences with DM-based cough syrups while sick I figured that it would just make you super sleepy and dopey – which didn’t sound all that appealing.

But apparently at higher dosages dextromethorphan begins to act more like PCP or ketamine. And there seems to be some pretty good evidence from Facebook posts that Trayvon was a regular user of ‘lean’ which could explain a lot about his behavior and actions that night.

Blogger Bob Owens opines:

One of the recipes for “lean” calls for using Arizona Iced Tea Co.watermelon fruit juice cocktail as the beverage of choice, and Skittles candy… the items found on Trayvon Martin’s body the night he was shot by George Zimmerman.

The Conservative Treehouse has a lengthy post about the recreational drug, it’s effects and side effects, and alleged screen captures of Trayvon Martin’s social media sites discussing his fondness for the concoction.

I have no idea if the screen captures are legitimate or not, but I do find it odd that Martin family attorney Benjamin Crump described the drink as iced tea when it clearly says “watermelon fruit juice cocktail” on the can. Was that an honest mistake, or purposeful deception in an attempt to hide Trayvon’s possible drug use?

If the story is correct it seems Trayvon’s medical records and the medical examiner’s review of his body will be revisited, to see if he used the drug frequently and in a concentrated enough form to explain his apparent confusion at the convenience store that night, the odd behavior that spurred George Zimmerman to call Sanford police, and the aggression he displayed when he fought with Zimmerman.

The fact that the press has dropped the “Justice for Trayvon” seems to indicate that 1) the story of Trayvon being an angel and Zimmerman the devil is falling apart. 2) there is no political benefit in this for Obama or 3) all of the above. If Zimmerman is found innocent, he should sue for every penny that any “activist” and media outlet has and give half of what he gets to the Martin family- they still lost a son.

There is still much to learn about this case.

It's incredible, really. Dead kids are the funnest thing ever! Makes me sick.

Whenever I read this thread, it always brings to mind the great philosopher Oliver Rose:

"You have sunk below the deepest layer of prehistoric frog shit at the bottom of a New Jersey scum swamp."

Teh wishful thinking is getting thick in here....

I just learned that the special prosecutor, Angela Corey, has been sitting in the courtroom the whole time, watching her guys perform. I'm sure she critiques their work for them. Theyre not very jolly.

the kid was trouble....a pot head and had a life of prison waiting for him. he's in a better place now....or in a place where his coffee will never get cold

Ex-Sanford Police Chief Says He Was Pressured By City Officials To Arrest Zimmerman Even Though He Already Cleared Him Of Any Wrongdoing…

The Al Sharpton effect.

(CNN) – The George Zimmerman investigation was hijacked “in a number of ways” by outside forces, said the former police chief of Sanford, Florida.

Bill Lee, who testified Monday in Zimmerman’s second-degree murder trial, told CNN’s George Howell in an exclusive interview that he felt pressure from city officials to arrest Zimmerman to placate the public rather than as a matter of justice.

“It was (relayed) to me that they just wanted an arrest. They didn’t care if it got dismissed later,” he said. “You don’t do that.”

When Sanford police arrived on the scene on February 26, 2012, after Zimmerman fatally shot unarmed 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, they conducted a “sound” investigation, and the evidence provided no probable cause to arrest Zimmerman at the scene, he said.

It had nothing to do with Florida’s controversial Stand Your Ground law, he said; from an investigative standpoint, it was purely a matter of self-defense.

Zimmerman told police he killed Martin after the teen attacked him. While the evidence at the time corroborated that claim, the ex-chief said, Lee’s lead investigator made a recommendation that Zimmerman be charged with manslaughter.

It was a matter of protocol, Lee said. Arresting Zimmerman based on the evidence at hand would have been a violation of Zimmerman’s Fourth Amendment rights, he said. Thus, the Sanford police presented a “capias request” to the state’s attorney, asking that the prosecutor determine whether it was a “justifiable homicide,” issue a warrant for arrest or present the case to a grand jury.

He has been made a scapegoat.

His accusers get a pass like Sharpeton

Fredrica Wilson has demonized Zimmerman who is her constiuent. Never called on it.

JUSTICE IN OBAMA’S AMERICA: Judicial Watch: Zimmerman Prosecution Might Have Been Forced by DOJ-Organized Pressure.

The Administration needed to increase racial tension to boost black turnout in 2012.

Judicial Watch announced today that it has obtained documents proving that the Department of Justice played a major behind-the-scenes role in organizing protests against George Zimmerman. Zimmerman is on trial for second-degree murder in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin in February 2012.

Judicial Watch filed a Freedom of Information Act request with the DOJ on April 24, 2012. According to the documents JW received, a little-known DOJ unit called the Community Relations Service deployed to Sanford, FL, to organize and manage rallies against Zimmerman.

Among JW’s findings:

March 25 – 27, 2012, CRS spent $674.14 upon being “deployed to Sanford, FL to work marches, demonstrations, and rallies related to the shooting and death of an African-American teen by a neighborhood watch captain.”
March 25 – 28, 2012, CRS spent $1,142.84 “in Sanford, FL to work marches, demonstrations, and rallies related to the shooting and death of an African-American teen by a neighborhood watch captain.”
March 30 – April 1, 2012, CRS spent $892.55 in Sanford, FL “to provide support for protest deployment in Florida.”
March 30 – April 1, 2012, CRS spent an additional $751.60 in Sanford, FL “to provide technical assistance to the City of Sanford, event organizers, and law enforcement agencies for the march and rally on March 31.”
April 3 – 12, 2012, CRS spent $1,307.40 in Sanford, FL “to provide technical assistance, conciliation, and onsite mediation during demonstrations planned in Sanford.”
April 11-12, 2012, CRS spent $552.35 in Sanford, FL “to provide technical assistance for the preparation of possible marches and rallies related to the fatal shooting of a 17 year old African American male.” – expenses for employees to travel, eat, sleep?
JW says the documents it obtained reveal that CRS is not engaging in its stated mission of conducting “impartial mediation practices and conflict resolution,” but instead engaged on the side of the anti-Zimmerman protesters.
On April 15, 2012, during the height of the protests, the Orlando Sentinel reported, “They [the CRS] helped set up a meeting between the local NAACP and elected officials that led to the temporary resignation of police Chief Bill Lee according to Turner Clayton, Seminole County chapter president of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.” The paper quoted the Rev. Valarie Houston, pastor of Allen Chapel AME Church, a focal point for protestors, as saying “They were there for us,” after a March 20 meeting with CRS agents.

Separately, in response to a Florida Sunshine Law request to the City of Sanford, Judicial Watch also obtained an audio recording of a “community meeting” held at Second Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Sanford on April 19, 2012. The meeting, which led to the ouster of Sanford’s Police Chief Bill Lee, was scheduled after a group of college students calling themselves the “Dream Defenders” barricaded the entrance to the police department demanding Lee be fired. According to the Orlando Sentinel, DOJ employees with the CRS had arranged a 40-mile police escort for the students from Daytona Beach to Sanford.

“These documents detail the extraordinary intervention by the Justice Department in the pressure campaign leading to the prosecution of George Zimmerman,” said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton. “My guess is that most Americans would rightly object to taxpayers paying government employees to help organize racially-charged demonstrations.”

Organizing such protests falls well within both President Barack Obama’s and Attorney General Eric Holder’s wheelhouses. Obama was a “community organizer” in his career prior to elective politics, a position that uses protests and street theater, along with threats, to obtain concessions from businesses and other political opponents. Holder has accused America of being a “nation of cowards” for not discussing racial issues enough. He also described black Americans as “my people” during a congressional hearing.

Holder wanted this trial. It was to "heal" race relations in the United States.

:nods:

The Zimmerman case began with the media making up a racist story: a black kid carrying candy is shot in cold blood by a white man in a gated community. It was a story that sent fear and anger through black people across the country. President Obama was in a low point in his re-election campaign, trying to gin up the black vote. Zimmerman, as a scapegoat, was used as a chance for Obama to bond with fellow blacks. So, making history, the president of the United States intervened in a criminal justice matter to foment race-hatred and fear. President Obama himself made it an issue of skin color: "If I had a son, he would look like Trayvon Martin."

Once the president of the United States weighed in, Zimmerman had a target on his back. An ounce of election advantage to our privileged, Ivy League president versus the ruination of a Hispanic man's life -- it was an easy choice for Obama. Obama's great appeal to voters in 2008 was his self-presentation as a black man without animus or grievance, eager to move the country beyond divisions of all sorts -- black and white, red and blue. In reality, Obama is obsessed with divisions -- race, class, gender -- and is expert at fueling war between us, to his political advantage.

Obama has used accusations of racism before, to rally his troops and attack his political opponents. Opposition to ObamaCare? Racist. Opposition to big government? Racist. His core liberal supporters like this stuff, and the other voters give him a pass on this, as on everything. The election analysts were predicting that even black turnout could dip in 2012. Obama moved from racial slurs on opposition groups to attacking a particular individual citizen. Zimmerman was sacrificed.

The Sanford police had concluded, based on a careful gathering of evidence, that they had no case for murder or even manslaughter. Being caught up in a tragedy is not a crime. Zimmerman had a right to self-defense. After Obama's intervention, the police were overruled, and a case of malicious, racist murder was taken to court.

The liberal media piled on. American blacks were purposefully stirred up, angered, heartbroken, then mollified. Obama underlined his racial identification with their grief and outrage, capitalizing on the poignant childhood photo of Martin, his imaginary son.

Zimmerman didn't get to be the president's imaginary son. Wrong color. Zimmerman got to be the enemy.

--> Of all Americans, blacks should believe in their hearts that a man is innocent until proven guilty, no matter the color of his skin. Instead, too many black Americans have allowed themselves to be manipulated by the liberal media and self-serving politicians to become a lynch mob, threatening violence if the trial doesn't convict. Evidence that things are not as bad as they thought only makes them angrier.

So when this is all over what do you think the final number will be that he gets from NBC. I am guessing 25 mill + if he takes a settlement. More if it goes to court.

Very scary how far the reach of this potus and the government is....especially in matters that do not concern them at all.

I would say race relations have definitely changed since obama became president. He has done more to ruin them than any other person sitting in the WH. I think there were still many problems along race lines, but I also think, before he became potus, things were moving in the right direction.

Obama has made sure to reverse all of that. I think the divide is greater now than it has been in many many years....and this trial is a perfect example.

I don't know. There only defense is incompetence, which is a valid defense in this type of case.

But incompetence in editing tapes to present such a negative view is hard to swallow....

I would bet $20 they settle.

Gotta show obvious malice by NBC.

If Zimmerman said the same about NBC it could sue him for slander, but they can defame him all they want because the 1st Amendment protects the defamation. Its like reverse hate crime, no black is ever guilty of a hate crime.

T Thug got JUSTICE....a well deserved BULLET

We need JUSTICE for the CIVIC MINDED COMMUNITY ORGANIZER

Darkies sure have gotten uppity in the past six or so years, haven't they?

What a darn shame they no longer know their role in polite society.

True. The judge let the prosecutor add a charge of ATTEMPTED INSULT OF A NOBLE BLACK MAN and FAILURE TO TAKE AN ASS WHUPPIN FROM A PROTECTED MINORITY GROUP MEMBER.

Oh, you poor little princess. It's tough having to suffer through the trials and tribulations of people different from you, isn't it? If one thing in the world shouldn't have to suffer, it's people like you. In you we rest the hopes and dreams and ideals of an America that should've been.

I mean, if only that hulking, brutal criminal thug Trayvon's murder had been swept under the rug (as it was planned to happen by default) like so many other murders of American punk thug drug-using robber children just like him, you wouldn't have to go through this agony of living through this rare and unique period of completely avoidable racial strife in the United States!

Because, you're right, before the current president took office we were all one big happy family and we were all getting along and it was almost all lollipops and unicorns.

WHERE DID WE GO WRONG, JULYBABY? HOW DID WE LOSE THAT NEAR-PARADISE ON EARTH WE HAD PRIOR TO 2009? (OR 2008, WHO THE FUCK KNOWS)

Judge Nelson just bitchslapped the defense: "Stop arguing with the court ruling after it's been made".

Seems Don West has a bit of VatAss in him, he no like no woman giving him instruction. Hurts his widdle male ego, it does.
