FAWC You, Two!

I should stress that the rules of the challenge are not set in stone. I figured this particular type of challenge would be a good way to, well, challenge ourselves. I don't think there's anything about the way it's set up that would prevent anyone from writing a story they already had in mind . . . there would just be a few other things to toss into the mixing bowl.

I posted this now, a week before the FAWC begins, so that any questions or concerns could be raised and dealt with before it starts. If a majority thinks the challenge is too limiting, we can change it. If some of the ingredients in the list need to be amended, we can do that.

The whole point is for this to be a fun exercise. So let's have fun with it! :D

I pretty much peek in, see what the theme is, and see if I have an immediate idea that works. If I don't, with a deadline, it's best if I back away. When I push myself on a deadline, it often shuts me down, even if I make it.

Fighting to avoid missing Earth Day AGAIN this year cost me another couple of months of downtime for exactly that reason. Me and deadlines don't go well together, unless I have something nailed down right from the get-go.

Let's just see if we can fit into the parameters given and if we ultimately decide not to then opt out at that point.

I can understand all that. I normally don't like working on deadlines myself. Chances are, I'll probably end up waiting until the last few days before I hammer out a story, because that's how I usually am with deadlines. But the challenge, I think, is intriguing. It's a non-standard approach to writing.

Agreed. Who knows how anyone is going to feel a week from now?

Hopefully I'll feel I have time for this by then. A death in the family today. Anticipate a lot of stuff ahead connected with that.

Indeed. Hope you'll be able to contribute, but real life always comes first. ;)

I'm on the fence for now. I have to see what I can get done on a couple of other things. I like the premise though.

I have three ideas rolling around in my head. I'm sure I can tweak one of them to match whatever is in the basket.

Also it feels good to have all ten digits working on both hands for the first time in six weeks.

@Pilot

Sorry to hear of your loss hope all are coping well.

My condolences, sr. I hope you and family will gather strength from one another and remember the good times. :rose:

I'm intrigued, but I'm not sure if my basket will be something I can handle.

I'm actually part way into a story now, and have a few unfinished ones sitting around. Wonder if any would fit the ingredients. :)

Personally, I like the idea of being given four disparate items to be combined into a coherent whole and a time limit to do it in. Of course I liked the Flashfic challenges too and I kinda miss them. :D

Just checking in. I'm glad there's some interest for this already. That's promising. :D

My fear is getting basket 4. I'm not sure I can pull that off. Sorry to read of your loss Pilot.

You get an entire basket as listed?

My understanding is you get an item from each basket.

Maybe I'm wrong.

I think I could handle #4 I already got the beginnings of a bunny looking at it after reading your post.

Thanks. You get one from each basket as I understand it, picked at random by computer generation.

As SR and LC say, you get one item from each basket, and slyc will do this by random generation. I was confused, too, at first; I thought he rolled a number and gave you a complete basket.

OK....Thanks all. This ought to be an interesting challenge to say the least.
