Just started planning a trip to visit my Best friend in Kansas City at the end of the year. And we are going to go down to New Orleans for New years. So excited :D

"Really?!!! So you'll probably be driving right past here! Of course, by that time I hope to be 200 miles NE of here.........:("

Nope! No okra!

"Oh my........fried chicken, mashed potatoes and cream gravy, biscuits, home canned corn, fresh sliced tomatoes and either fried eggplant or fried okra or fried green tomatoes......oh my........Sunday dinner at its finest at my Granny's....(gosh, and now I'm hungry....at 10 PM.....go figure:rolleyes:)"

Sundays at my grandmother's was either spaghetti with a sauce that had just about any kind of small meats she bought at the butcher OR something Polish, like gawumpkies or freshly smoked kielbasa.

"Nothing at all wrong with either of spaghetti or kielbasa - but what are gawumpkies?"

Stuffed cabbage or cabbage rolls. Our family never rolled them, more or less folded them, then stacked them tightly into roasting pans with a little water, and steamed them for 3-4 hours!

No sauce

It tastes sooooooooooo good

The section of Poland where my great-grandmother came from tomatoes were deemed poisonous! She lived in the US from 1909 until 1988, and never had one or ketchup or sauce. On her burgers she's put mayo, mustard and pickles, sometime horseradish that she made

Ok i'll trust you

It had the texture of fish, but the taste was, um, different. Not really.

Hmmm how did you eat it? Mine was fried bites. I thought it more had the texture of chicken. LOL I was surprised that I liked it, i'm not an adventurous eater

"Popcorn" style, deep fried chunks of it, had a few dipping sauces on the side.
