Here you go, authors! A plot bunny for romance or werewolves or both--and you can write from experience if you take the time to go out on Sunday night and see it for yourself :D

From here:
One of the biggest celestial events of the year is almost upon us!

Set to peak on Sunday, June 23, the 2013 supermoon is noteworthy not only for the remarkable sight it will present to skywatchers but also because it will be the largest supermoon this year.

Also known as a perigee moon, the event occurs when a full moon lines up with the Earth and the sun at a specific point in its orbit, called the lunar perigee. That's the point at which the moon is nearest to Earth as it traces its elliptical path around our planet.

Since it's closer to us, the moon appears up to 14 percent bigger and 30 percent brighter than usual. Coined by astrologer Richard Nolle, the term "supermoon" essentially means a bigger and brighter full moon.

Don't forget your cameras

Oh, we won't. Apparently, my telescope has a "special" cup that was designed to reduce outside lighting conditions in the advent that I would want to take a picture through the lens.

I don't know how much the wife paid for it, but we got it factory direct (through Direct Buy) and it's a rather impressive thing.

Hm. What sort of romantic snack is apropos for a Supermoon? Be nice to sit out somewhere and nibble/drink while gazing up at it... :cattail:

Romance with a werewolf seems a bit farfetched, but whatever.

My better half got a really cool pic of it and a fireworks bloom. We were at the race track tonight and they had a fireworks show and she managed to catch the moon and a burst.

Ugh! I totally forgot to watch the moonrise. On the other hand, I added 5000 words to my Nude Day contest entry.

Saxon, post a pic?

I'm able to see the moon with a cloudy halo. Might make for a nice effect, but the features are obscured. Hopefully, we'll have a better view tomorrow night.

It's a clear night here. I just went outside to view the moon. It's high up in the sky now so any pictures would be nothing special. :(

OK, seem to be havin issues getting the pix from her phone, but I was able to get the one she posted on Facebook..I'll post the others when I get my mitts on them LOL.

Save that one, Sax. For some reason, I can see that same image in a future Star Trek movie . . . .

I live in the desert, and the moon was so bright it was almost eerie out last night. Played fetch with the dog for about twenty minutes, it was definitely a fun experience.

Ok, I finally got all of the good pics from last night. But the loader says they are too big for the site. I don't know how to fix that....:(

Thanks Dampy!!!!

Thanks to Dampy I have fixed the issue.

Still overcast here. Hoping that it might clear up later tonight. If not, maybe I'll get some night shots of downtown.

Saxon, I can send you the instructions I created for Naoko on how to share pictures via SkyDrive if you would like.
