Regardless, what happens after the assault in the military is nothing like the civilian world and that's where the focus of the discussion should be. The military has a high tolerance for gross sexual imposition and rape and if the alleged offender is a hard working, popular troop then the tolerance level is astronomically high.

There's a bill going around the House right now that would take sexual assault charges out of the chain of command into a legal system that answers only to the DoJ. That's a start.
