Ugh, the above post took me 15 minutes of hitting 'try again' to get it to post!
Now I know why the current Consumer Reports had Hughesnet satellite at the very bottom of their list!
I wish I had other options out here! *cry*
Apologies for the delays in responses...

Okay, I'm in need of a hot fudge sundae. Is it acceptable for middle aged women to go through the drive thru in a cami with no bra or do I need to get dressed before I go out?
Yes, perfectly acceptable when it's after dark and still over 80 degrees!
In fact, many would rather you wear that!

I saw that at the beach today! No, wait, those were lots of tattoos on very white 'first warm day' Michigan skin! LOL
Nice to see you here Throbbs.

Sometimes I wish the beach was closer.

Though I did get outside today.
Though they have "peaked", the purple and white lilac smell great!..along with the white lily of the valley.

I had a little glitch with my last one too and I've got cable internet, so I suspect it was partly Lit that was at fault. At any rate, I'm going to call it a night.

Don't know if anyone will be here next weekend because of the holiday, but I'll probably pop in to check. Have a good week.

Goodnight SoaW, Kate, Nimby, and Throbbs.:kiss:

whoops too late. Night, night.

Good night Nauti, always wonderful to chat with you! :rose:
Enjoy your sundae and flash the drive-through guy!

I stole some Lily of the Valley from my mom's house and it's thrived by my front porch....the best smell of early summer!
And it's nice that Lake Michigan is only about 30 minutes from here, we try to go a bunch of times every summer. We kicked off the season early this year! :)

Hi Nimby.

Thanks. I'm a proud mamma. Two weeks from today is the open house then life can get back to normal. :)

Kate, no Memorial Day plans here. I'm focused on the graduation then my mind can move on to other things.

You should be a big milestone!

Hi Nimby!
A lovely Mother's Day here, thank you! :rose:

Hey Kate :rose:
Glad to hear and your very welcome

I suppose the flip side is that it seems like an "event" when we go. (to the beach)
It is here too since it's an 'all day' trip, lots of stuff to pack to go!
Felt good to walk in sand again. :)

I'm going to give up on my connection for tonight. :(
Have a great week everyone and enjoy the holiday weekend coming up!

Morning, all.

Just though I'd pop in and update everyone.

The girls took Jazz out for dinner and shopping on Mother's Day. Got her some more rose bushes and a couple of solar powered lights with glass butterflies that light up. Cool night lights.

That was her last 'good day' for a while, I'm afraid. The chemo has kicked in and has made her tired and somewhat weak. She was given a big dose last Monday and... it's started. Over the weekend, she screamed and I ran like Hell into the bedroom to see her sitting on the bed with two handfuls of her hair. She bawled for an hour.

I took her to a salon, and they did up a new hairdo for her. Very short, but 'stylish and sassy', as they put it. I like it, and she loves it. That made her feel better, but she's worried about what's to come. I told her the doctor said she may not lose all of her hair. And if she does, we'll deal with it when the time comes.

In the meantime, we got some good news. She has to do a huge dose every four weeks instead of every three, and the doctor says her prognosis is looking better. She wants to give Jazz another PETscan two weeks early, thinking the chemo has already started to work since the other tests came back with good results. The doctor's not promising anything but, if the scan comes back with good news, she may not have to continued with the chemo through June or July. We're holding good thoughts here.

Other than that, it's the same old same old, here. Enjoy the nice weather while you can, I'm told we have rain coming... and I still haven't got my lawnmower running yet. Anybody have a sickle I could borrow? :D

past my bedtime. night all (not "night owl")
Everyone here has an early morning schedule, so even on days off I'm up early. Haven't been a 'night owl' for a very long time. ;)

Morning, all.
Just though I'd pop in and update everyone.
*Jazz News*
Hi Captain! I'd say that's all very good news! Sounds like you're all taking it one day at a time and with a great optimistic attitude, so important. Glad she likes her new sassy hair style, it will grow back soon enough. :)
Continued good thoughts being sent your way. :rose::heart::kiss:

I guess there was a lulu of a storm that blew through last night, but I slept right through it. But sad about those poor people in OK. :(

Hope everyone's week has started off well. Last few days of school for my HS senior..will know by Friday if I have a ceremony to go to on June 2nd!

Hugs all around.

Just got a little bit of a signal, thought I'd say everyone have a safe, and fun Memorial Day

Happy Memorial Day!

Hope you do too Nimby!

With the weather clear but cool, we bought lumber and started on 'Coop 2, The Sequel: Bigger, better, coopier' :D
Have just the frame done, as I have some time before the new ones are big enough to join the herd. Have a good start on it though.
Saying rain today, so the plan is to go see the new Star Trek.

Youngest has one more final exam to take tomorrow before we can know if she made it or not...keep those fingers crossed!

Hope everyone is having a wonderful holiday weekend.

We need to put together a HAPPY BIRTHDAY KAKE
for anyone who has a birthday today!;) probably just a short kake, not too tall, or two for a split level effect.

this may or may not have taken weeks to paint.

If it seems like there is a piece missing, well that is just an intentioanl wedge removed to highlight the frinkled insides.

I love it! Thank you Throbbs!:heart:
Yes, there will be cake today, but the flamingos are staying out in the lawn! :D
That must have taken you forever to make!! ;)

Birthday bonus, good news that my daughter managed to pass all her classes and will indeed graduate this Sunday. It was very close on a few and didn't know until literally the deadline.

So a day to double celebrate!

YAY! :cattail:

Happy Birthday Kate!!

What a great birthday gift from your daughter. Graduation is a GO! Hurray! Congratulations from one proud mamma to another. :)

Commencement ceremony was last night here. Fortunately the rain held off (except for about a 5 minute sprinkle right in the middle) and we were able to see the kids receive their diplomas outside. With as warm as it was yesterday, having all of those people packed into the Gym with no A/C would have been torture. Of course those bleacher seats are no picnic for your butt, but at least there was a bit of a breeze. There were just over 400 graduates, so the program took a while. Certainly much longer than mine with a class of 112!

I have decided that it's okay if the house isn't perfect. (Mostly because there's no way I'm getting done all that I had on my list at the beginning.) But there will be plenty of good food and good company and that's all anyone really cares about anyway!! Hopefully there will be good weather on Sunday for both of our grads!

Thanks Nauti! He's delicious!
I have to work this morning so didn't 'celebrate' last night. Went out to a great dinner and got some lovely gifts from my family. It was a very nice birthday. :)

Glad your daughters commencement went well and the weather held so you could stay outside. She's in a big class!
They do ours at the football stadium, with the gym as the rain back-up too. For your party and our ceremony Sunday I hope the weather is nice for both of us!
Went from having no graduation plans to having to quickly make some. My mom called and said 'Of course we'll be there!' so now I have to clean my house and have good snacks here too! LOL

Proud of both our girls!
