LOL, this reminds me of my brother's PhD. It was on the way soil behaves like liquid in an earthquake. We used to say it was just a continuation of his early fascination with how long he could dunk his digestive biscuit in his tea before it fell off.

I like WEB Du Bois best. He was so ahead of the Chicago School; The Philadelphia Negro still stands as a supreme example of the ethnographic study - mixed method, everything. But people will only refer to it in race studies modules.

Yes. But I'm afraid WEB Du Bois always brings up Richard Nixon in my mind. Back in the 60s, Tricky Dick complained that the communist youth organization, the "WEB Du Bois Club" took that name so the American people would confuse it with "The Boys' Clubs of America." Yes, that's US pronounciation, and the proper one for Du Bois (WEB at least, if not Blanche).
