Election 2012; Darkness Descends on America Part Three…

Or people will go to substitute goods.

It requires the cooperation of government to build and maintain a monopoly.

Thank you...it is so difficult to get these liberals to move off the talking points they have memorized.

If meemory serves, the development of the oil fields is a classic examplt, one of the moguls tried to monopolize transportation of the oil, the other built pipelines.

That, of course, is the essence of a free market, the competition which usually if not always leads to progress, better products, better service.

Yhe reason socialim always fails is that they have no competion and never create anything new...they have to steal it from free market countries...

It is also a part of the loser mentality here, creating somethng new, like the computer, that destroyed the typewriter business, would be forbidden by the statists because it moved jobs from on area to another and all the peasants and union workers would hve to learn new skilll....and god knows, we can't have that.

By definition, monopolies cannot exist in a free market society if the laws of property are protected.

The instant one tries to monoplize the market, someone else will pop up with a better product at a lower price...that be how it works, dummy.

John D. Rockefeller proved you wrong. His ghost laughs at your ignorance.

Had you ever attended an accredited college, you might've taken economics 101 and learned about something called "cartel pricing economics" and the "Standard Oil trust".

Your silly "laws of property" simply didn't work, your firm belief notwithstanding.

It took something called "monopoly law" to do away with monopolies, and God bless Teddy Roosevelt for leading the trust-busters.

You are one truly ignorant son of a bitch.

I wanna know how Diamond gets past the monopoly laws. From what I understand they're pretty much the only wholesaler you can order from.

and you are truly one stupid bastard without a clue...

You read the muckrakers provided by whatever fleabag jr college you attended...meanwhile, I was at four different institutrions studying historiography, the sources from which historians and pundits get their information.

There is a mental deficiency throughout the left wing, the inability to conceptualize and think in abstracts/, you just ain't got it.

Even a middling knowledge of the steel industry, since you referenced it, the Bessemer process changed everything...innovation, new ideas, experimentation, none of which exist in your cloistered world.

But...it is not the pragmatic bean counter comparisons that you favor that decides issues, it is the reason, rationality and logic behind someone who tells you that in a free society, a monopoly, is logically impossible unless governemt tilts the table.

It is an ideology that makes you so stupid and blind to reality...you have this blind faith in Marxism, that the individual and his enterprise must be managed and controlled for the greater good. Roosevelt satisfied his passion fro control and carbed out a small fortune by stealing from industry and feedin the pigs at the government trough.

We don't need you fucking bloodsuckers, go away, go play with yourself or some other useless time killer...

As John Galt said, "Get the fuck out of my way!"

When you refund the taxpayers for your Medicare-funded eye surgery you can talk.

*chuckle*

I do not think John said "fuck." Maybe "the hell..."

"The request of Industry to the Government is as modest as that of Diogenes to Alexander: Stand out of my sunshine."
Frédéric Bastiat

Diamonds being a cartel have not stopped the sale of diamonds.

Oil pricing did not stop its development, but if it had of, we would have returned to wind, solar and candle, the very things you fight for now...

;) ;) The electric car may have actually predominated.

Talk about your basic 101 ignorance.

I knew, but any discussion or mention of Rand makes these guys insane...

 ... so here I am, with my stick, before school, bored as hell...

It makes us shrug mostly. Rand's writings will not be steering this nation and in time will be mostly forgotten.

If you believe your own writings (always doubtful), I urge you to put your money where your mouth is and try and go into the diamond business. How long will you survive without dealing with deBeers?

Answer: not long at all.

Google vertical monopoly.

Naw, Marx', Lenin, Trotsky, all dead and gone and so is their legacy of human tragedy through socialism...

Rand speaks of universal truths, those axiomatic, self evident ones you can't comprehend, and thus her writings will last as long as there are people to read.

Where is your bumboy?

Rob needs you.

Ah yes, all that knowledge you're fond of bragging about, yet you're telling us "Standard Oil" was a steel company.

The vertical monopolies created by the Robber Barons (Rockefeller, Carnegie, Stanford, et al) in the era of unregulated capitalism effectively prevented meaningful competition until progressives leveled the playing field with trustbusting legislation.

No amount of ad hominem, red herrings, or non-sequiturs on your part can change that underlying fact.

I look forward to your inevitable spittle-flecked reply.

Rand is also dead... and sucked on the american teat of government funded helthcare before she did so

Rand speaks of doing one thing, while hypocritically doing another

Rand will go into the dustbins of history along side Chauvin as another " prophet" that is relegated to a narrow and poorly thought out philosophy

'...the second-most influential book in American thought, next only to the Bible.'

Ayn Rand's two most famous novels "The Fountainhead" (1943) and "Atlas Shrugged" (1957) are among the greatest word-of-mouth hits in American publishing. Both were scorned by the critics when they came out, went on to become enormous best-sellers, and to this day sell tens of thousands of copies annually."Atlas Shrugged," Rand's magnum opus, is sometimes said to be the second-most influential book in American thought, next only to the Bible.

"There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old's life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs."

What's in store for Part III, if it's made?

"A month before the release of Part I, Aglialoro suggested that Part III might be made into a musical..."

LOL!
