The Thought Police thing is bad enough (keeping subversive thoughts to yourself because the TV is watching you), but it's the idea of actually internalizing Big Brother that's horrifying. Totalitarian methods were shown to work not so well. The all-pervasive sphere of modern media-culture-internet discourse-advertising-education-propaganda is more effective.

The killer drones are supposed to be a dark hint at the edges of awareness, like those assassin AI's in Iain Bank's Culture books.
 
Because TV is watching me?

TV is giving me the message to live my life by and everyone else is watching me.

Maybe even my kid...

They are not killer drones, just watchers and reporters.

And they do not have to kill; their power is in denial of all-encompassing Federal largess. Your behavior is wrong, you get no access, and in order to create benefit, we have, of necessity had to dry up your pool of alternatives.

The liberalism you'd like to see destroyed & its fields sown with salt is nothing less than postmodern global capitalism itself and its general cultural effects. The only hope for that is widespread systemic breakdown at the technological-economic level; which isn't entirely impossible by any means, although that hope makes for strange political bedfellows.

I disagree.

It is anything but Capitalism.

It is a marriage between the big and powerful and government designed to eliminate the competition for the both.

It is also a replacement of the objective for the subjective in morality.
