Off to the races next Sunday for the maiden run.
I am reliably informed that we have a better than good chance!
Reminder to self - must go buy hat :D

Not don't forget to buy some uncomfortable shoes. I see lots of ladies at the end of the races with shoes in hand or in the hands of their partners.

Morning all,

Well here we are one month down and ten and half to go till Santa is back. Acutally its another year of super and this year the mortgage will be paid off as part of the next stage in life.

Certainly has been a typcial Summer so far but very dry this time around. Yes things are normally dry, however we usually get some Summer storms and more rain. Lots of humid type days. Thankfully nothing like the 41 with overnight temp in the 30's but still lots of warm stuff.

The only storm we have had so far had me in its sights and boy when it pulled the trigger I like others out at the time copped it. Having to sit in a car with wet clothes for the drive home was not comfy. Decided that I needed a larger umbrella. Reckon you can find an umbrella in Melbourne, well think again. They are usually in some small corner in a store tucked away and hard to find. Its like they want to give the impression we don't get rain. Anyway I now have an larger umbrella with the Aussie flag on it...that shouldn't stand out at all...

Hello to all the new people discovering more Aussies on Lit. Kinda like discovering new worlds.

Hello to all the new people discovering more Aussies on Lit. Kinda like discovering new worlds.

Please don't do the count down....depressing enough that the year is almost two months gone.

Though it does bring me closer to England. Off there for a Research project to live in Newcastle for one month, then a little travel. Moon does England and Europe...so to speak. ;)

Wet Eflie:kiss: Damn and I'm not in Melbourne to help blow you dry. Shall I just purse my lips and see if I can reach from here?

Luckily since the horrid floods and 125km winds of two weeks ago, the weather has become more pleasant. Still thinking that New Zealand is the place to live..........just can't stand this heat any longer.

Do try and stay dry Elfie:kiss: lad. But if not, remember I am more than willing to participate in the wetting you down in more delightfilled ways.

A big Hello to all the other Aussies out there. Hope that you Aall enjoy a wickedly relaxing weekend. Keep cool wherever you may be.

Well, that - and the ex-MIL (but that's a whole other story!)

Hello there, Ms Moon! Good to see you back. :)

Were you affected by the floods? Relies in Rocky and Grafton were, but the Brisso crew that copped it in the last flood were fine, if rain sodden.

We still need rain here, before the heat goes, to get us through winter. All the pasture that was burned out with the big fires has greened up with the latest rain but we need a good soak.

Your trip to England sounds great. I take it you're going in their Summer? Even better. I hope you get time to play over there. You know... all work and no play..... :D

I hope you your daughter and her friend are all well and happy. :rose:

Oh Bugga! I missed posts.

We have a visitor from the US! Hi DallasDonna. I'm sure many more uses can be found. :D

australwind, didn't your boi come back with 'it's there to be used'? I'm sure you've convinced him there's better uses since then. ;)

Welcome to

lilmischief - Don't worry about Gil, he's a Bunny tragic. :p
pussy patrol
lusting moment - I hope your transfer to Brissy goes well. The natives are great. Some of the transplants need to chill, though.

shane1 - Beautiful Whitsundays! What a life!
Hosebloke - There are a few Waussies lurking here

Come to think of it, we haven't heard from Pert. Her baby would be a few months old now, I think. Hope all is well. Pert!

Hi WQ. :)

Are you past the bushfire dangers, yet? It seems to be really dry down there, still.

You've been a pampered girl, lately. haven't you? :D

Bloody thunderstorms rolling through here this afternoon. Loud, noisy and quick. Mmmm. A bit like some blokes, really.

Hiya trisk :rose:

Sadly, as we've had almost no rain, we are under a total fire ban for the forseeable future. The only good thing about our close encounter the other week, is that most of the bush has burnt near us and we're now safer than we were!

I have been spoilt completely rotten. I hate it ;)

Can you appeal to some higher power to send some rain down this way? The dams are almost dry :(

I'm in the middle of cooking dinner right now.....

OK. I'm posting drums, cymbals and maracas down. You can initiate a new tourist attraction.... Tasmanian Raindance!!! :D If only it would work, huh?

Best bet, I find, is to plan something that you absolutely need dry weather for. Mr Murphy then enacts his law and the rain will bucket down! ;)

Oh puleeeese! You hate it? Yeah, right! :D:D

Hope dinner was great. (I'm sure it was, Tasmanian Nigela. lol) Had a barbie at a mates. Watched the storms come and go. Lots of bluster, not much substance.

Hiya All.

Having come over from the UK to do a two year Carpentry Course at the Polytechnic West Campus in Midland , Perth, I thought I'd stick my head in and say G'day :D

Nice one....didn't know that. Not been to Karratha..come recommended?

WQ???

Greetings :)

Karratha is a shithole. Definitely NOT recommended.
I went back 5 yrs ago, and couldn't believe how much the place had changed - for the worse.
(I also got a shock when the local police sargeant recognised me! But that's a whole other story.... ;))
There are much, MUCH nicer places to visit!

You do realise, you're going to be completely sucked in by this awesome country, and may never return to the UK, right?

Hey Queenie :)

As I'm still fairly new here in WA, where would you recommend?

I fully intend to be sucked off.....err......as in wanting to stick around and not return to the depressing UK :D

In WA, you must go down to the south coast..... Margaret River, Yallingup, Denmark.... all good :)

In the north, Broome, Bungle-Bungles, Hamilton Ranges, Kimberley.... again, all good (but you need some time for those).

Hey :)

I've been to Margaret River, only a few weeks ago....lovely but expensive.

I've only been as far north as The Pinnacles :D
