,there's a reason I dont deal with fuel injected. A carb is simple, less to go wrong with it.
,
I have never had good luck with carbs. I m finding FI very easy, just plug in the computer and it tells whats bad.
But I tell you what, show me your carb, and I will show you my fuel injectors.![]()

I prefer an older car without computers involved. Much simpler, cheaper, more reliable.
You got me wishin I had dual carbs to show off
Just knowing there's a woman out there thinking about jets and power valves, maybe wearing a subtle perfume that you can barely detect under that sharp tang of carburetor cleaner????
Shuddddder..
IF you have the talent to actually get a piece of crap GM Rochester to ever work right I'm in love
Although for my midlife crisis I finally broke down and joined the modern world....( only because it's hard to get over 200 horsepower out of 1800 cc's without going in jacket or blown)
Of course on the other hand the midlife crisis in part for quite some time when I had a fuel pump issue, Decided it was God's way of telling me I should park it for a while until I have a chance to rebuild the head I think I've been to valve on the non VTech side.
Makes me feel like stripping it down... for the next build it's going to be sleeved stroked injected and blown.
P.s. this thread is worthless without pictures!... just sayin

Query - give me an air cooled VW and I might be able to get it to work right. Throw in a radiator and fuel injection and I'm in over my head. I don't care about power - I'm dealing with 1600 ccs, probably around 50hp. I just care about style. Who needs to go fast when you look good? She sure does purr when she's tuned up nice.
I too, foolishly tried joining the modern world and bought a newfangled car with a computer and air conditioning, and it was a mistake. I can't fix the damn thing myself and its too expensive to bring to a shop. It's broke a month after I bought it. I should have stuck with my gut and bought another VW instead.
You should get around to doing your rebuild. What a feeling of accomplishment when it is done..
I'll think about postin some pics, depends if I have any good ones.
The first car that was all mine was a 1972 Volkswagen fastback with air conditioning and fuel injection... and it was an automatic transmission.
I swap the body onto a pan with a standard transmission and converted it to corporation and ignore the air conditioning.... in Arizona.... can't lose the horsepower.
If you are more about style then power and you like volkswagons you probably love an East German Trabi.... It's basically Volkswagen body on a Renault suspension
