Don't get too excited...I feel really out-of-practice right now...and on top of that I was keeping an old promise that the next story I write be outside my comfort-zone. What I would really love to do is finish out a series I started a couple of years ago, but I can't really do that now, so I'll just have to start on something new and fresh

I just decided to delete my story from the submissions after a couple of days of waiting. I have to admit its probably the worst thing I've ever written.

While I set out to accomplish a certain set of goals, I found myself meeting those goals and hating the execution. It also teetered on the borderline of the violence policies of this site, so I figured it was best for all involved to pull it. I will still share it with anyone who wants to give some constructive criticism, but I don't know what the best way to do that here would be.

On the other hand, I am dedicating most of my writing time now to a serious novel-length work focusing on a realistic brother-sister incest scenario (from the pov of the sister). As I get tired of working on that exclusively, I will inevitably push out some short stories to fill the time. I'll probably stick to themes I am used to for now, so hopefully I can put something good out that will grab some attention.

Well I am sending it to people by request. I also have a much larger sample pool (with feedback) to compare to that you guys aren't familiar with yet. If I get to know any of you well enough, I may share the name under which I've posted previous works (and the site where I posted them), but I've recognized one name on this site already as being someone I've had difficulties with in the past (and their posting habits lead me to believe it is absolutely the same person).

For now, instead of relying on past works, I'd like to increase the pool of new works. It was just a bad idea in general to start off with a theme I am particularly uncomfortable with without any kind of baseline established for constructive criticism.

Did you have to put it in the 'romance' section to qualify for the contest? I think it might have worked better in the 'non-human' division

No, although the "non-human" element is not played to strongly in the sexual parts of the story. There are some elements of physical appearance based on it, but they are also reasonably "human" as well. The plot is the only part that dictates that one of the characters is not human, plus the overall theme is definitely a romantic one, so I felt that it fit better with people's expectations.

Putting it in the non-human category might have given people the wrong impression. I suspect that most of the readers of that category are probably looking for either non-humanoid elements or some absurd, humanly impossible element within the sex scenes. As a stretch, maybe non-human creatures that change into a humanoid form for the purposes of sex. I doubt they are looking for a character that is for all intents and purposes human, except as dictated by plot points, though.
