Soon gay couples may be able to have their own biological offspring!

I should have been clearer. My comment related specifically to reproduction - I have no problem with anyone growing, attaching, or grafting whatever they want onto whatever...
But growing babies....now that's a whole 'nuther thing.

Um...why?

Isn't he just seen as white because most Christians are white?

Yup... Nordic Jesus is a real testament to human vanity.

It's still silly but even black Jesus is closer to the truth than what 99% of Christian Americans hang up in their homes.

^Issac Hayes...not black Jesus..close but he's just really awesome and I felt like posting his pic.

As an aside, it's interesting that Christian images of Jesus show him as white. No? If true, he would have been the only white fella living in that area at the time.

You know in a lot of homes in the middle east there are paintings of the late prophet Jesus Christ some solo others with his homeboy Muhammad. He is always brown and I found it hysterical how pissed off the bible thumping soldiers were about that little fact....

Why doesn't this thread say "now couples who couldn't conceive naturally have a chance to...blah blah blah"?

Why go automatically to the gay talking point?

Because "Gay" is what kicks the ant's nest over....with out that it would just be "oh that's cool! I  science!!" but toss in gay...zomg

As I said before, I'm catholic and come from a very catholic family and only went to catholic schools but I don't remember ever being told that Jesus had to be white. At school I remember having to draw a picture of what we thought Jesus looked like, there was never or wrong or right, but since I live in a probably 97% white community and all of my schools only had about 1 or 2 people in each grade that weren't white, everyone just thought of him as white, because that's all we knew pretty much.

SO I think that Jesus can look however you want, nobody is right or wrong, and you shouldn't be arrogant enough to believe you have the right to say so.
Although in saying that, I do believe that Jesus should always have a beard and white robes and Jesus sandals :D

Mind numbingly stupid thing to say. That is, if you believe Jesus was a real person.

Why I believe that YOU just said the dumbest thing. The basis of Christiniaty is that Jesus was a real person. So if I didn't believe Jesus was real than why would I bother calling myself Catholic?

What makes you so special that you get to say what people should believe?

Well then, if he was a real person, born in a specific region of the world, wouldn't he look pretty much like everyone else in that region? I mean, can't we make a pretty good guess that he didn't look Chinese?

Why is it arrogant to think that a person born in the middle east would look like someone born in the middle east? Seems really dumb to think otherwise.

I've seen Oriental Jesus before. It's sorta creepy looking.

I'm sorry, I guess some people think Oriental is offensive. Whatever. I meant gook Jesus.

No- there's a segment of Buddism that speaks of Christ training with the Buddah that depicts him as Chinese.

That's b/c it has nothing to do with being christian or catholic w/e it has to do with your culture. I would bet the farm if you grew up a southern baptist in Jasper Texas...you would be spouting off about how righteous you were for doing god's work lynching them naggers n' queers on the weekends.

All makes perfect sense....I'm no sociologist but once again, sounds like a perfect example of culture/surroundings influencing perspective as always.

Well beyond scripture there is no historical record of the mans existence. I mean pharaoh's, queens, emperors, kings and various religious icons we have even some that predate Jesus. Drawings, first hand accounts, things these people have invented/done/owned etc. paintings, sculpture even currency with their faces on it...buildings and monuments etc.

They even built fuckin' pyramids for these people..kings etc...we can't even build them today with all our cool guy stuff.

Not the son of god though....not one fucking shred.

I'm not discounting it, but i'll need a lot more than the words of a 2000 year old desert goat herding ignoranus that thought the earth was flat and the center of the universe to go on.

Toast doesn't count either....

And they are idiots. If, in fact, a person was born in Judea and became a famous teacher... and looked Chinese, wouldn't that have raised a few questions. I would imagine that Luke, being a doctor, would have noted it somewhere.

I guess I mean arrogant more in the way that you shouldn't push your thoughts onto other people. And I think when you're younger you like to think of Jesus as someone that looks like you, I guess it makes you feel more connected.

The issue with that comparison is that at the time of His death Jesus was not well known or of any real interest to anyone outside of the immediate area. There would have been no reason to have any significant records since the people who made such records were the ones who killed Him and saw him as little more than a local nuisance.

I thought Luke was a printer. He's mentioned here a couple times.

Also, the records would have been burned by those damned Romans when they sacked Jerusalem (again).

That's still really dumb. It's not pushing anything on anyone. Quit trying to defend stupidity with stupidity.

Well, the people who believe that say that there were a lot of Asians in Judea at the time- and historical records show that there were. They tended not to be Hebrew, but there were a lot of specifically Chinese folk who had immigrated into the kingdom to do craftsmanship work- among them carpentry. You have to remember that there were far more races then just the Romans and Jews there at the time, it was kind of a center for education. The schools that Jesus was said to have gone to were some of the best known in the world at the time- the pharasies (sp) were known the world over as the people to educate your kids, especially in math.
