Pathfinder: Kingmaker Recruitment

Alright. Partway done muddling through a character sheet from what I could find from the guide and other online resources.

As for basic information, neutral Human Gunslinger. Male.

I'll expand it later, but the gist is, at the age of 12, my mother was a trader who disappeared along with a trading caravan headed into the Stolen Lands. About a year later, my father used the entire family savings to hire a group of mercenaries to follow him into the Stolen Lands in search of her, or her fate, leaving me at an inn with a room paid up for several months. My father and every last mercenary disappeared without a trace as well, leaving me both orphaned and destitute. When the time on the room at the inn was up, I was forced out onto the streets. Since then, I've nursed a powerful curiosity about the Stolen Lands and the fate of my parents and have resolved to one day make my own journey. Whether I would discover what had happened to them or disappear along with them, only time would tell.

Alright well I have been inspired a bit by our current selection. We got some ranged and magical powers. But a rogue needs someone to sneak attack with so we need some melee.

I'm going to bring in a catfolk barbarian who uses natural attacks, claws bite. I will work out the actual build and background later. But for now put me down for some RAAAAAGE.

Putting my bid in to join. Don't have my stats on hand at the moment but I have a complete character done up. (One I have been playing in Society sessions)

Calyn Elsworth male human fighter (polearm master) with a war horse trained to engage monsters. He grew up as a slave but was freed by the actions of Andorans and has dedicated his life to their service.

Alright, we have quite a few people going for male characters. So what I'm going to say is that we are in need of females. That goes mainly for anyone new looking to join, but also, I suppose, if anyone wants to rework their concept.

Speaking of concepts, once you've posted yours, I'll add it to the first post of the thread so others can see what we've got so far. So Ravenloft, HotKittyGirl, and NotShyGuy, yours will be added. Remember, though, that I care a lot about personality, not just backstory.

I may switch things up and play my jungle druid halfling princess, Runs-with-night, then if that's cool. I have still have to get her made for Pathfinder, but that should be pretty easy considering she's been written up in every previous edition I've played.

Heh, its funny, two of my go to characters are all about eliminating slavery for one reason or another. Calyn was freed from slavery and Runs lost her entire circle of druids to slavers, jumped on a ship and is ultimately looking for the minds behind the muscle that took down her people. The big shocker was always going to be that it was her long lost family who gave the order, a royal family to boot. Never was able to get a dm to set the stage for me though...

I've also got a ninja who dishonored his clan by falling in love with a rival clan member and a werehyena pirate.

Building a kenku monk for Society play and basing a female elf barbarian named Edda directly off of the webseries Standard Action. If any of those sound interesting to you.

Alrightie. Here is the character sheet. The rest of it is coming soon. Had to get the mechanics down before I started to work on the goodies.

HotKittyGirl: Your sheet looks good, though you may want to consider putting it on a web hosting site: it makes accessing it easier. The only thing I'm wondering about it why you've got a Carrion Crown trait selected - I assume you don't want to use the specifics about Professor Lorrimor in your backstory?

Ravenloft: Above all else, play what you want to play. That said, I'm not sure a jungle druid is the best way to go, just because this campaign doesn't take place in a jungle (think of Russia if you want an idea of the climate). My other concern about the concept is one you've raised yourself: I'm not sure that this campaign, being pre-written, has space to revolve around one character's backstory to the extent that Runs-with-night demands.

Also, as a final point, I get the feeling that Runs and HotKittyGirl's character might end up being fairly similar, looking at them.

I'd encourage you to take a look at the Kingmaker Player's Guide, since the APs require characters to be tailored to them more than Society play. If one of your existing characters fits, run with it. If not, well, making characters is fun!

Naliria: Alright, sheet is solid.

I didn't do editing to well. I use a the Hero Lab builder and just grabbed whatever trait gave me Init. I switched it out for reactionary. It's all good. Can just link the post for reference later on.

It seems counter intuitive to me that an AP is more restrictive on appropriate characters than Society play, but okay... *Sigh* gonna look through what I've got character wise...

I don't have her stats in front of my at the moment, but I do have a tiefling and if I remember correctly, she was an oracle with a deafness or maybe it was blindness, I was keen on playing as a sort of spiritual consort.

In passing, I've been watching Spoony's (Noah Antwiler, creator of spoonyexperiment.com) Counter Monkey videos where he talks about the things he's seen running register in a game store. He shared a brilliant little trick in one of his recent vids. The Bardic Knock spell. Yes, the bardic knock spell. Allow me to demonstrate, you might want to stand back and ready your weapons, guys.

*Walks up to the door to the thieves den, smooths out my vest, looks back with a wink, lifts hands to cast. Then... I knock solidly on the door. The first MFER who checks to see who it is gets a fist in the jaw. And if they're careful enough to ask who it is... Well obviously I'm the delivery guy, duh, now open up, these sacks of dry goods I'm carrying are getting bloody heavy, damn it!* In dungeons its worth while to learn some of the more widely spread monsterous languages for this reason too. Goblinoid is probably the most common. Bluff them with the prospect of a nice juicy adventurer steak in goblin and you might get the drop on them.

Perhaps you could suggest a web hosting site just to make things easier on the rest of us?

Finished the appearance and personality. I may tweak them a little, especially the personality (it's a little bare bones), but here they are:

Appearance
Aurena has a charming air to her, which manifests itself in her eager poise; bright, glittering blue eyes; and the small smile that flits at the corners of her pink lips. The young woman's face is smooth and youthful, healthy and well coloured, with the slight tan of one who has spent a fair number of hours in the sun. Around her face, locks of red-blonde hair fall to her shoulders, cropped so as to be at once feminine without being impractical.

The rest of her body is equally feminine: she has a slender waist and a thin frame, her soft curves visible even in the armor that she usually wears. It is silvery chain overlaid with thin plates of steel, which glint, highly polished so as to be almost reflective. The edges of the armor is filigreed with gold and bronze, indicating craftsmanship and wealth. The armor gives way to unblemished skin around her collar, showing a hint of the cleft of her breasts . Here, a thin gold silver chain bears the sword of Iomedae, the holy symbol of her faith. And at her side, a similarly designed sword hangs from her hip.

Personality
Despite her upbringing, Aurena does not seem to have taken her nobility to heart. She is altogether too cheerful and expressive to have a noblewoman's dignified presence.

Instead, she is warm and cheerful, quick to smile and laugh, and even, on occasion, flirtatious in a naive sort of way. Her faith in Iomedae is just as organic as her good nature: she rarely thinks of her goddess in a deep or theological way, seeing her path as more of a guideline for a good life than strict tenets. She yearns for adventure, though, truth be told, she doesn't know what to expect from it.

Okay, I've read through the kingmaker document and would like to know if this would be acceptable as a concept.

Name: Vayah

Background:

Female gnome druid from one of the reclusive shamanistic tribes of gnomes that come from the local area. Although she comes from a people who are reclusive, she isn't happy with the prospect of being groomed to become the tribe's next leader and thus tied to her peoples tiny forest life. She see's the winds of change comming and knows that for her people to survive the comming settlers, they're going to have to become a part of it all, so she goes to help those who would carve out a place for themselves in the hope that she can establish coexistance between her people and those who might threaten to disturb their simple way of living. She has a Blood Caiman (Crocodile) animal companion.

Appearance: Vayah has long black hair that she keeps done up in tightly woven dread locks, an animal's fang tied into the end of each lock. She has intense blue eyes and prominent cheekbones. Her body is very lithe and petite because she loves to run and swim, so she has very little body fat, except for perhaps an attractive curve to her belly.

Oh, and I posted my stats here becase Myth-Weavers has blocked my ip address as a spam bot for some reason, and the other sheet host has been hacked recently according to their own page, and I do not trust it with my personal email.

I would like to throw in my hat to this thread if possible. I was thinking of trying to polish up the female ninja I had created when Sex, Swords, and Sorcery was active, before it had to abandon it.

That character sounds good, Ravenloft!

JadeKnight, welcome aboard!

Deevo: Sheet looks solid, from my brief look. Except I think your hitpoints are too low. You should have at least 9 (8 base, plus 1 from your Con), and possibly 10 if you also put your favoured class bonus into that.

Yeah, I really dug the concept of a nature wise little person with a wild look who is shockingly fast for how small she is. She's shit for strength, but that, in itself just enhances her element of surprise. As long as no one metagames her into being a prevalent threat, she has a pretty good advantage looking as weak of a target as she does. In fact, I'm kind of surprised that isn't an inherant racial trait of small races. A simple percentage chance that could be scaled up or down by the DM to represent weather or not they get completely ignored in combat. Seems like a real no brainer to me.

Fixed my HP, adding my favoured class point to give me an even 10 - thanks for spotting that.

The one frustrating thing is that my Class Skill bonuses don't seem to show up; I'll just add them under Misc. Mods.

By the way, when do you hope to start the game? I'll be away this weekend but I'll be ready to go from Tuesday.

I hate to be a bit of a nag, but I'm confused here. Apathetic posted that the point buy was to be a 20 point buy. While trying to adjust my 4th lvl char down to 1st, I was glancing through everyone else's build. Using the point buy system, I counted everyone but Sean using 25 points instead of 20. Sean's was only 15 point buy on the system. To me, it looked like everyone was doing more of the rolling dice method. I could be wrong, but was just wanting clarification. And would the point buy start from 10 or 8?

Deevo: I'd like to see some characters finished up with personalities, backstories, etc before I set a date. Now, that said, it's possible that people need a deadline to encourage them to finish up, so if I don't get things soon, I'll go ahead and set one.

Sean Renaud: For spell memorization, put all the spells you know onto the sheet, then come up with a standard list that you assume you have prepared on a standard day. Then, once the game gets started, on your first post of an in-character day, you'll mention any changes to that list that you make.

JadeKnight: I'll look into everyone else's point buy. But you can use the Pathfinder point buy calculator found here: http://tools.digitalightbulb.com/pbcalc.html Remember to add racial bonuses to that.

My calculations are off. I wasn't adding things right for the point buys. My bad. :p

Interesting. I tried to register at Myth-Weavers to use the sheets....And they don't like yahoo email.
