The Official Author's Hangout Halloween Contest Support Thread

I've been well advised to stay away from a Scouries/Scouries world competition.

2012 Halloween Contest

http://www.portwallpaper.com/imgwal/sexy-halloween.jpg
year #3 on a.i.r…

You can begin submitting your stories on Sunday, September 30th and up until October 21st. We encourage all contestants to submit their stories as early in the submission window as possible. Those authors who try to abuse the system by entering their stories at the very last hour (using the infamous darkboy technique) will risk having their stories disqualified.

The winners will be announced on or around October 31st

You can discuss this special contest on the tigerlady’s AHland toady thread, or of course here on the A.I.R. thread.

PLEASE NOTE:
While the LITEROTICA Halloween Contest runs at the same time as the A.I.R. Contest the two are totally separate and run under a different set of rules.

RULES (for the A.I.R. section of the contest):
(see the QUEEN for this weeks LITEROTICA Rules and their interpretation)

- All submissions must be stand-alone stories created for this contest theme. We will not accept individual chapters of a larger work submitted separately.

- Nor will stories featuring characters, locales, plot lines, etc., etc., that have been previously used by the author be accepted.

- Prizes will be awarded in the following categories (a story can only win one prize in each contest):

1) Best Overall Story
2) Most Views
3) Most Comments
4) Most Votes
5) Highest Score
6) Most Favorites (both author and story favorites)

- A story has to accrue a minimum of 250 votes to be eligible (higher in some categories). The vote, comment, view, favorite, and score numbers that are reported by LITEROTICA will be used subject to final verification by the A.I.R. Computer Center.

- Authors are prohibited from voting or commenting on their own stories. Their votes on competing stories will also be swept away.

- Story must have a Halloween Day Theme.

- It must be erotic in content...

etc, etc...

- Non-Human/Science-Fiction category stories will not be accepted in this contest.

- Story must not exceed 5 LITEROTICA pages in length (20,000 words).

- Each author is allowed only one submission (under his name and his various ALTS – ie lovergirl (yes the convicted cheat) and the condiment ALT are allowed only one entry - not two) per contest.

-An exception to this rule has been made for Top 25 “Most Favorited” authors – they are allowed two or three depending upon their ranking.

- No character may be named Pauletta.

- Don’t just submit some rehashed story you’ve been working on for years. We want something fresh. Be creative!

- The "least viewed" story in the contest has absolutely no chance of winning a prize.

- A.I.R. reserves the right to disqualify without notice or explanation any story in which any kind of cheating or vote-tampering is suspected.
lovergirl (yes the convicted cheat), due to previous infractions of this rule, has been suspended for this contest as she is in the process of serving her 3 contest suspension.

- Every story that meets the above criteria and is submitted to LITEROTICA during the contest period will be automatically entered into the A.I.R. contest. No special submission form must be filled out. We believe in inclusivity!

- If you have any questions regarding any of the above or anything pertaining to our contests, feel free to contact me by PM or email, or post any questions you have on this thread.

Good Luck!!!

Don't believe everything that AHerrs advise you my dear King!

And besides, not to worry. Any story you put up on LITEROTICA during the contest period automatically is entered in all ScouriesWorld sponsored A.I.R. Themed Contests.

Good luck your highness...

I've heard much about these Lit contests and think I may have a try.
Just to prove my green-ness though how the "Bloody Hell..." do I go about it in regards to entering and the like. Can I use an editor?

Would someone be so kind as to point me in the direction of the rules please?

You can enter a stand-alone story. It can include characters from other stories you've written, but it can't be a chapter in an ongoing story. You can certainly use an editor -- ask here on the support thread, or at the Editor's Hangout when you get to that point. You can also enter more than one story but they must all be stand-alones. When you submit, you'll need to make sure you put a note like "HALLOWEEN STORY CONTEST 2012" in the notes field, but check the official rules for this year. When those are available, I'll post a link.

Here is a link to the rules from last year's Halloween contest,
which I imagine will remain the same except for date changes. This year's dates are in the first post of this thread.

Don't believe ANYthing that Scouries and his alts tell you. He lies.

Any story you put up on LITEROTICA during the contest period automatically is stolen for Scouries World fake contest.

Edited and corrected Scrubbing Wanker's fake contest notice.

Please note: That is how to quote him. Remove all the stolen art work, the colours and emphasis, and tell it how it is.

I've had this bunny for awhile(course that does not mean it will be ready for the starting gun:rolleyes:) it's incest....sort of.

It's got an odd twist to it and the incest purists may seriously trash me on it.

Got it Sir!

So, Scouries is a thieving piece of shit and a wanker. Advise of his scamming but not while blatantly advertising his bullshit at the same time.

Entries

For the first time in I don't know how long, I actually have a story ready for the contest before it begins. A follow-up to my "A GOR-y Halloween", it's "A GOR-y Halloween Party."

Also have my first ever Erotic Horror entry - I hope - I'm about 100K into the story, and 3/4 done. Should be fun!

Good luck all

Started doing research for my story last night, had the idea just smack me in the back of the head.

It was creepy doing the research though. Everything I looked up was falling into place for my story like Tetris blocks. Very spooky.

I have been given a few comments that say I write some dark shit. Well it's that time of year, for that time of story. Grin.

Arrggh! Too soon!
I had one I started, then shelved when other things took over my time (foolish me for thinking Hallowe'en was years away). Now I've come back to it for the second draft. I may just finish it by the deadline. But I know I'll need editing...and my editors are busy with important things right now.
It's my shortest piece yet at about 14 000 words, but I might not be able to squeak it in. But I don't want to rush it!
Takes place in Canada (surprise! surprise!) and is my own rather weak attempt at a Lovecraftian horror story (set during the planetary alignment a decade or so ago).

Yay, my fav story competition.

Boo, for not being eligible (but yay for free books on amazon from the other comp)

Of course, not being eligible means I can leave cute and fuzzy in a box and really cut loose with something squicky...

Ooh, now I'm interested. I love spooky things...

WOOHOO!
All we have to do is make the primary character's name Pauletta, and none will go on the "other" listing.

I'm already 2/5ths done with my story but I don't know if I can get it in in time because law school (tons of reading there). I might have put out my story for the Valentine's contest in case.

Quick question. I've been looking through Lit for a while now in search of a good monster story in which the girl is the monster instead of the guy. So a lady vampire, a lady werewolf etc. Not counting an abundance of succubus stories, they do seem quite few and far between.

A lot of 'Dark Fantasy' women's fiction tends to revolve around a normal woman meeting an interesting man who turns out to be a vampire/werewolf. The NonHuman section of this site is practically overflowing with these kinds of stories. I don't really have a problem with that but a lot of the stories I've come across on here that have the opposite theme tend to involve the man somehow defeating or subjugating the female monster. Or the monster going too far in the other direction and rending the poor guy limb from limb.

So I wondered if there were any good monster tales on here that jumped out at anyone with an awesome lady vampire or she-wolf meeting a normal, everyday sort of guy and them actually getting along despite their differences?

My Halloween contest entry mostly revolves around the relationship between a normal guy and his werewolf girlfriend so I wondered if there was anything similar already out there.

I have an idea for a Halloween story, but it's on a rather delicate topic and I'm not sure if I want to tackle it or not. Besides, I have literally about half a dozen other half-finished stories, including two I'm grooming for the Christmas contest (my favorite). More than likely I will give it a go, though.

You'd HATE sitting at my home desk. Every year a spider's web appears under it. I never remove it: It keeps the other bugs away!

Pleazzzzzeee. ;) I know you... you wouldn't have me sitting at your desk, you'd have me on it. (and if you wanted me under it you'd remove that damn web then. ;) )

Delicate, Smelicate.... Whats the worse that could happen? You write an interesting story that might get voted down and you don't win.

If I read it right, the odds for the last contest were something like 3 out of 107. With those type of odds, your (and mine since I'm entering) chances of winning are not good to start with.

But you wrote something that was interesting. I mean I'm already interested just to find out what you thinks too delicate for this site.

Maybe your delicate subject would be what catches the eye, and gets you votes. Never know unless you try.

The Pauletta story's don'tnot have to be just NH.

They can be Sci-fi Erotic Horror and also Gay Male. You could also do interracial.

That way all of scouries prejudices are covered.

Edited to add BDSM, I forgot he hated that as well. So fairly wide open field for good ole Pauletta.
