Anonymous Secrets Thread

Welcome back and stay dry! You left the thread in good hands, and it left you with good stories to catch up on.

I'm currently right in the path of Hurricane Jackassery 2012. I expect it to be a big giant non event that every one proceeded to loose their minds over for the last several days.

Gustav was a strong Catagory 2, Katrina was a giant 3 and Andrew was a 5. This thing is barely a Catagory 1.

So no reason to worry. However the power grid in BR being what it is, I will like loose power for a day or more if it stalls in this area. Just to give everyone a heads up.

If you don;t hear from me for a few days, I AM NOT dead. Just powerless.

Sooo how long till we can worry? ;)

Which brings me to a subject idea for today!

Have you ever worried about something or someone going terribly wrong?

A friend gone wild?

A naive person falling for someone elses ploy?

Was it worth the worry afterwards? did it all turn out or was it perhaps exactly what the person needed. A social/sexual/erotic escapade to bring them back to the real world, or just a need to discover something new.

I myself used to really worry about a friend, she gone through a lot of rough stuff in a row, partied way too hard and hung with the wrong crowd. But now that she has "been there and done that" she seems to have settled for a nice steady guy. They are both still bonkers, but in a more pleasant way :D
So in hindsight, I maybe could have worried less.

I just worry ALL the time - I really need to stop!

Neruda - we so rarely get extremes of weather here that the word hurricane sends us into panic!

Anything specific you worry about?

And extreme weather, the most extreme weather we have had here caused two tials to fly off the neighbours house and flooded the pond in the backyard.

Other then that, no earthquakes, no hurricanes, no tornados, no heat above 40 celcius or freezing below 20, nothing of the sort.

So forgive me if my imagination gets the best of me :D
I'll try to hold off the "we're all gonna die!!!" mode off for now ;)

Well kudram to answer your question I worry about everything and everyone. I am a worrier. A lot of it is the job and the training, but that's an excuse. I am what I am.

You and me both Bux.

It's a mild hurricane. But it is stalled out over new Orleans and dumping huge amounts of water on the state. I think it is likely that I will loose power and or cell service at some point.

However that falls under the category of inconvenience. At no point will my life be in jeopardy.

I have lived though many hurricane and tornadoes. Hurricane is better because you can get out of town where tornado, you just hope you make it through in once piece. But I have ridden out a couple of hurricanes, one of them a Cat 3. As the roof was being torn off and the water was at the front porch I said never again and I left the coast. And they say the wind sounds like a train? They were wrong. It sounded like people moaning and crying. I was scared shitless and said, I am done with the beach...

We are all going to die, but for most of us it will be a while.

:)

I've heard that sound. It can get to you.

I used to think I knew what worrying was before I had kids.

Now that they're both driving and out with friends, I have a whole new category of fear.

Other than that, being on a plane, being on a ship, being in a car all cause me great stress and worry.

:eek::eek::eek:
That is enough to give me nightmares.

...and to be damn glad I live in the dead middle of the continent. (Ok, maybe not literally, but close enough...)

I would like to eventually see an ocean, just not a hurricane.

If it wasn't for the RNC we'd still think that Isaac was just a dude in the bible.

I've been through many many many earthquakes in two different states. 105 mph winds up here is just called ''high winds''. But when the thermometer gets stuck at -44 and the igloo is a little drafty with a poor excuse for a wood stove is when it got scary.

Seriously, you've never been to the coast!?

My worry with Isaac isn't the weather it's the people. I've got a good friend who is a cop in NOLA and I just worry about people being idiots and getting him into dangerous situations because it's his job to help. :(

Like others...I am just a natural worrier.

I was a "latch key kid" and if it was about time for my mom to get home from work and I heard an ambulance I would get nervous that something happened to her. Even today if I call my mom and she doesn't answer my mind starts inventing reasons why (only child and widowed mom living a few states away = always worrying lacandy!).

And along with Ella, things only grow exponetially when kids are added to the mix. Reading about the driving thing just made my stomach flip flop! Good Lord I am not looking forward to that whole thing, I'll be a giant bag of worry when that happens. *wonders if I can keep them wrapped in bubble wrap until I die*

I will never forget that sound... the hurricane was stalled off the coast and that sound and those winds kept up for 4 hours... I finally went and got music and headphones to drown out the sound.

Just go when it is not hurricane season...

Yea I bet.... cold is bad when there is no heat.

Yea the jerks get out there , wanting to see the storm surge... in MS, they put up road blocks and arrested anyone who went to the beach.

Yep, that is the only way they could keep the idiots off the beach. Had to go to a curfew as well.

And see, I think that would be an ideal way for nature to thin out the herd...natural selection working at it's finest.....

p.s. *snerk

Hurricane Update

At this point I have stopped mocking the hurricane, just in case it angers it.

It's a lot more rain than I was expecting, but the wind isn't so bad. Anyway I assume I will be loosing power soon.

Wait until you send one off on their own....
