It is utterly impossible for consciousness to survive death because consciousness is governed entirely by the brain.

After brain death, you simply cease to exist. PERIOD.

The falsehoods of theology have been used simply as a tool for social control.

The world we see in front of us is the only one that is.

God does not exist.

We keep track of time now from before and after his death. Even if you don't believe in what he is that in itself shows he was important on earth.
We name the days of the week after Nordic and Roman gods. We name the months of the year after Roman and Etruscan gods, and a pair of Caesars. Does that make them important?

Your theory is interesting. It is also impossible to prove or disprove (at this time). I happen to believe you are correct but I also plan to hedge my bets by repenting and confessing my sins 3 minutes before I die.

Blaise! How's you, bro? Still French?

No No

Two points that prove your stupidity. Forget Mike. His is a special case, documented by below average IQ scores.

1. You (and Mike) used what is known as a "circular argument" -- an argument that commits the logical fallacy of assuming what it is attempting to prove. Also known as begging the question. The whole point of an afterlife is having a new consciousness in another realm after a bodily death. You don't prove or disprove anything by simply denying that premise by asserting that dead people are unconscious.

2. I intentionally used the words "pained" and "inventions" in my last reply to you to hint at your misuse of the word "conscientious." You meant "conscious." Conscientious means to be mindful of or exercising an appropriate standard of care.

"Conscious" means to be alert and awake. Something you've yet to demonstrate in this thread.

Hogan, you need to be careful. You actually wrote something in English which is logically true. I believe that is contrary to common rule on this entire site.

Hospice patients and the terminally ill are usually given drugs to sedate them in the days and weeks prior to their death.

People who have "died" and were then revived claim that they have absolutely no cognitive recollection of what occurred during the time that they were dead. it is just like being "asleep".

I'm assuming that this is exactly what it is like being dead, for eternity!

Still not proof.

You should make a lit thread for everyone to Blaise their way to heaven.

Would a conversion and confession count if done on Lit?

No amount of confession or penance is going to excuse the abomination that is "Blaise their way to heaven."

"The world we see..."?

And what are we that see it?

That doesn't explain consciousness.

`I refuse to prove that I exist,' says God, `for proof denies faith, and without faith I am nothing.'
`But,' says Man, `The Babel fish is a dead giveaway, isn't it? It could not have evolved by chance. It proves you exist, and so therefore, by your own arguments, you don't. QED.'
`Oh dear,' says God, `I hadn't thought of that,' and promptly disappears in a puff of logic.
`Oh, that was easy,' says Man, and for an encore goes on to prove that black is white and gets himself killed on the next zebra crossing.

Religion is nothing more than a tool for societal control and a bi-product of human nature.

Theological beliefs about an afterlife and spiritual realm are bogus and scientifically false.

Good. You have two more theories. Now you must provide proofs, or at the least evidence supporting your theory.
