school marm?

you know you would be better off with an early child education degree in your job

I think we are confused here.

And yes, I should have an early childhood degree. I'd get paid a lot more if we called it what it is "Daycare manager"

I don't mean to sound like a dickhead or an asshole, but I just wanted to know if there were any women who work in any nontraditional trades/fields here in this forum, that's all. Besides, tradeswomen/handywomen are one of my topmost favorite types of females; for some inexplicable reason, I get turned on whenever I see, read about and/or hear about a chick taking on some masculine (male-dominated) endeavor - especially an endeavor that involves being technically/mechanically inclined. Perhaps it's because I like women who "know their stuff" (ignorance is a big turn-off to me) or perhaps I like to see a women get her hands dirty; I'm not sure but I have heard all kinds of reasons. Apparently, I am not alone when it comes to having a thing for Wrench Wenches, or Handy Women - there is a growing number of Internet sites and visuals (stock photographs/videos, news reports, blogs, movie lists, Youtube videos, etc.) that feature Handy Women in some kind of Working Environments - like halfway-completed construction sites and/or automobile garages. Also, I have a thing for female aerospace workers (female astrotechnicians, female cosmonauts, and female astronauts) female firefighters, female loggers (I love axewomen who can chop down trees with such ease!), female gamehunters, military servicewomen ( There are couples that consist of deployed military servicewomen and civilian men, like at link 1 , link 2 and link 3 . ), cowgirls and female postal workers.

It would get even better for me if a tradeswoman/handywoman was also into hot rod/rave/Goth/punk/rockabilly culture, or just a regular countrygirl. (I'm definitely not counting on this one too much, since most Goth/punk chicks are more into liberal arts or fashion, not engineering or trade.) I know that when one conjures up an idea of a woman who works in any type of nontraditional technical field, the first thought that comes to mind is that she is either a "bull dyke", "butch femme" or "manhating lesbian" who is overweight and "rough around the edges". That stereotype often does have some validity, but it's not always true. Yeah, the average female tradeworker may not be beauty pageant contestant material or fashion model material, but there are a handful of female magazine models, female movie celebrities ( Elisha Cuthbert admitted to changing a timing belt in an automobile. ) , female musical celebrities ( There are photographs of Pink changing her car's oil. ), female gymnasts, female acrobats and even a few ballerinas who happen to be mechanically-inclined. I am not sure if this is true or not, but there are a few dozen or so women who work in some kind of trade by day but at night, they work in some type of (quasi-)sexually-oriented business (escort service, regular bar/strip dancing, belly dancing, porn, burlesque, etc.) - almost like in the movie FLASHDANCE (198?). Hey, in this Big World that we live in, there is a whole realm of possibilities. Up until a few years ago, there was one woman on the otherwise all-male maintenance team that works on the factory machines at the margarine-producing plant that I work at, here in Richmond, Virginia USA. Also, I have only occasionally seen a few automobile repair shops (mainly from Goodyear and Jiffy Lube) that had at least one or two female employees actively turning wrenches on some engines in my hometown. As for me personally, I am far from being an automobile expert, but I have changed the battery and spark plugs a couple of times in my car. I practically know nothing about construction work, but I have done a little bit of plumbing, though I'm no expert in that either. (I know, many of you reading this right now are just saying, "That says it all right then and there! WebJock himself doesn't know a durned thing about tech stuff so he wants to find someone who does! I rest my case.", or something similar, am I right?) I do, however, have plans in the future to attend UTI ; I heard that school has a great NASCAR program and I just love motor sports. Otherwise, I am mostly into computer technology (robotics), business, architecture, art and music. Yeah, I know that I am quite an abnormal guy, but it's great for me to talk to you guys about some of these things.

Unruly youths threaten construction workers

Sad. This is some of the kinds of stuff that holds up a productive economy. These punks don't know just what the heck they're doing. That's why I think that some of these construction sites should have armed security guards; that will make these bastards think twice about doing what they plan to do.

You've not been to Western Alaska, have you?

The company needs to have some imagination. Start an ice hockey league, or give them all jobs as security guards.

"Those four wheelers are not worth shit up here. Everybody has one of those. Nope, if you boys want to make the big money you need to go to NYC and do ironwork. I have plane tickets for each one of you. Call the hall as soon as you land."

You're assuming that they want to work.

You are assuming that is what the hall wants them to do.

This Stebbins thing grates on me. I know all the folk who are running that job and I know that the company actively recruits local hire and injects a pile back into the local economy. Plus, they do a lot of OJT.
