It's getting close and I am so excited. I can't wait to see what Michael Phelps does. I love sports so I guess it's not surprising.

I will be glued to the television covered.

Will you be watching???

not wildly excited, to be honest, but i'm interested to see what on earth danny boyle has come up with for the opening ceremony. some of the costumes i've seen are making me wince but he's used to doing stuff large so we'll have to wait and see.

the events i'll want to see are all the gymnastics, diving, some of the swimming, equestrian and maybe a little track and field but not much.

hope you enjoy them, pinkie :rose:

For sure. I know the opening ceremony will not match the grandeur of Beijing, but I am still very excited about it. Phelps has the opportunity to become the most decorated Olympian of all time this year.

I am looking forward to all the events you mentioned. :)

Thank you, chippy, I will most certainly enjoy them. *hugs*

It will be very exciting. He may not do as well as Beijing, we will just have to wait and see. :)

You have to remember that Beijing was China's coming out party. The government poured literally billions of dollars into the Olympics. The British government won't do that.

So far the best part is the Greek athlete's comments about West Nile Virus coming to the Olympics to get some good home-cooking from the African players.

300 tons of fireworks!! should be awsome! make the blitz look small fry.

I'll watch a bit at night but I'm not sitting inside on nice days. Winter comes too fast and is too long up here to not enjoy the summer weather.

There's a few sports I like to watch, as well as the opening ceremony.
Sux that the ceremony starts at 6am here - that's when I'm usually doing the animals feed. So I have to get up at 4 tomorrow!

The British are not in the right time zone. They should have moved the island to make tv viewing easier for those of us in the correct time zone.

I'm super excited! I know someone competing in swimming, so it'll be fun to see her, and I always love watching the games. From what I've read about the opening ceremonies, it sounds like it's going to be a riot.

I love me some Brits but I totally agree with you on this.

Congrats on the baby, cookie. *hugs*

was brilliant to see the Great Britain womens football team win :D actually looking pretty forward to this now after the resentment of triple train fares

I'm sorry you have to get up so damned early. I'm not as excited about the opening ceremony, myself.

I'm excited to see all the swimmers but especially Missy Franklin. :)

I like to watch to see what each country puts forward.
Getting up early isn't so bad.... it's going out into the cold middle of winter to do the feed that's going to hurt!

We have a relative (by marriage) competing in the athletics, so I'll be watching that.
Our family has a few olympians... Two relatives of my man competed in the 50's and both won gold in their sports, and my parents are winter olympians, dad won silver (that's where they met).

its going to be on all channels so its going to be hard to escape watching at least some of it

I like most events in the summer games. Fun stuff. They're gonna have golf in 2016. Finally.
