Wow thanks for the recomendation. I'm surprised to see your from China? I'm probably stupid. I know you all have the majority of the freedoms we have. However i thought going on sites like Literotica would be restricted!

I'll try Divergent but i refuse to look at the game of thrones. i a wierd way it reminds me of the Jersey Shore!

I hail from New Hampshire but live in Beijing.
It's an "authoritarian" government control thing. I am sure that a Chinese equivalent to Literotica would be surpressed immediately.

My colleague in Dubai does that all the time as the UAE blocks porn too.
It has something to do with by-passing proxy servers, or so he says.
Simple downloads are probably too complicated for me to execute.
Yeah, I don't really understand that stuff. It's probably not worth it just for porn. Do people in China know about the Un*known R*ebel? (not sure if I could type it out properly or not)

Huh so they create this beautifull facade thats just really flawed. The place nearly colapsed financialy and now they black porn. "THE HUMANITY!"

Got the whole set from a big bookstore in Shanghai last summer!
This summer I'm wading through a box of used books sent by a friend in another Chinese city: a Dan Brown, a few detective novels, several Kathy Reichs. Right now I'm reading the awesome 'The Heart is a Lonely Hunter' by Carson McCullers.
Why is that?

The US and other western countries are just as authoritarian. Witness recent (proposed) legislation re the net and privacy.
Re suppression of Lit equivalent, probably, to stem the so-called decadence (which ain't such a bad thing).
But not so Youtube and Facebook equivalents: Youku (sp) and Weibo.
QQ challenges MSN and Yahoo.

The government is tasked with the duty of protecting the citizenry. If they can't do that they become redundant! Even the Libertarian freaks belive the gov should keep the rapists away!

The English version of 1Q84 was released last October. It is Murakami's latest novel. My favorite book of his is "Kafka On The Shore" though. All are great reads!

George V. Higgins early novels are good: FRIENDS OF EDDIE COYLE, COGANS TRADE, THE RAT ON FIRE. Most of his books involve criminals and politicians. Brad Pitt recently starred in the movie version of COGANS TRADE, he's a Mafia enforcer.
Cormac McCarthy: NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN and BLOOD MERIDIAN (not for sensitive pussies).
Chester Himes: His novels about Harlem are good reads.
Elmore Leonard: I prefer his Westerns.
Alan Le May: THE SEARCHERS and THE UNFORGIVEN, both Westerns of high quality.
Forrest Carter: OUTLAW JOSEY WALES.
