The Hamptons think the "common person" just doesn't get it

From a Romney fundraiser in the Hamptons:

The line of Range Rovers, BMWs, Porsche roadsters and one gleaming cherry red Ferrari began queuing outside of Revlon Chairman Ronald Perelman's estate off Montauk Highway long before Romney arrived, as campaign aides and staffers in white polo shirts emblazoned with the logo of Perelman's property -- the Creeks -- checked off names under tight security.

They came with high hopes for the presumed Republican nominee, who is locked in a tight race with President Obama. And some were eager to give the candidate some advice about the next four months.

A money manager in a green Jeep said it was time for Romney to "up his game and be more reactive." So far, said the donor (who would not give his name because he said it would hurt his business), Romney has had a "very timid offense."

A New York City donor a few cars back, who also would not give her name, said Romney needed to do a better job connecting. "I don't think the common person is getting it," she said from the passenger seat of a Range Rover stamped with East Hampton beach permits. "Nobody understands why Obama is hurting them.

"We've got the message," she added. "But my college kid, the baby sitters, the nails ladies -- everybody who's got the right to vote -- they don't understand what's going on. I just think if you're lower income -- one, you're not as educated, two, they don't understand how it works, they don't understand how the systems work, they don't understand the impact."

And don't forget those silly ignorant yahoos of HankMed, milady.

Just like a bar-b-q featuring celebs at The White House, the White Housers totally get it.

I'm just sitting around waiting for my government handout. What's so hard to get?

Attacking Romney supporters for being rich. That's not the least bit hypocritical. Nope.

Fear mongering: 'now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of their parties'.

The common people do understand trickle down economics.

The rest of us suffer the whims of WALL STREET. "Oh, won't it be fun to make bets on who loses a house next? Big fun in the California electricty fubar, too. Uh-oh, somebody's having seziures on the sidewalk. Cops!"

The only reason there is a grudge against the rich ... well, two -- the populace was raped worldwide and the publicans have a track record for opressing the gay crowd.

Duck quacks echo, and everyone's feathers are ruffled.

The Democrats excommunicated the last of their conservative members in the mid 90's. That was about the time Zell Miller, Bob Graham, and the other conservative members of Congress retired. In 1994 the GOP took control of the House.

I was a Democrat then, and spoke to my representative about helping out to regain control of Congress. She made it very clear to me that white men werent welcome in the party but my money was. So I switched parties. In 1996 the woman was defeated for re-election by less than 10 votes.

Is there some hidden meaning buried in there?

Both parties are owned by the big-business interests. The difference is that the Dems are not wholly owned.

dude, you're still drinking their kool aid.

you're looking at things with one eye open

The world savers made it impossible to make steel, mine coal or manufacture anything in the U.S.

The unintended consequence? The children of all those steelworkers, coal miners and factory workers became investment bankers, stock brokers and tort lawyers.

Ethics? Integrity? What's that?

But, those things are still being done here.

Whaddaya mean, "unintended"?! If you were a coal miner, wouldn't you want your kids to be something better-paid and safer and less grimy?!

Ethics? Integrity? What's that?

Something with which tort lawyers, at any rate, are intimately familiar, and you are not.

Yeah, at $38,000 a plate to eat with Obama, that's quite a comparison.

I wonder what really happens to the other $37,990 after food costs?

Campaign fundraising events would probably do much better if they pass around the money envelopes like they do at wealthy churches.
