Here's what I'm wondering: she's sitting at the front of the bus. Is the driver not allowed to do anything? When kids acted up on my bus, my driver pulled it over and had the parent(s) come pick them up from the side of the road...

Yep, blame this on the bus driver, the bus company and management and the principle. All should be aware of the situation and can make sure the children are punished. First punishment should not allowing those children to ride the bus any longer. Easy.

I did a quick web search on this story and no where did I see the school district (or board or principal or who ever is in charge of these things) did anything official about it. It's nice that people felt sorry for her but what about some official reaction. Had the video been the opposite and she used those words and touched the students like they did her hellfire would have rained from above. Also, I'm wondering what the job description of a school bus monitor is. Flacky for student abuse? Those kids should be identified and enjoy their walk to school. Or worse yet let the parents of those little hellions be so inconvenienced and forced to get their little darlings to school on their own. After the students get back from suspension of course.

The reason why they are happily doing it to an adult instead of a child is that kids no longer look at adults other than their parents as authority figures. We have raised kids to believe that they are mini adults now, and as such they have no problem with going toe to toe with an adult. And the adult is powerless over the child because that's the way things are now - Don't you dare yell at my child! Don't you dare touch my child! instead of addressing the fact that Little Johnny is a shit head who needs an ass-kicking.

I agree with you. My mom was a school bus driver for 20 yrs & she had no problem kicking kids off her bus for behaviors. The problem she had was the parents, who demanded my mom's head on a platter for kicking their precious darlings off the bus. On mom threatened to sue my mom, after her son was suspended from the bus for two weeks, for carving his name into the back of a seat. After she was shown the damage, she told my mom's supervisor that my MOM carved, to frame HER child, because my mom "always hated him". Wha?! The supervisor's resonse, was to kick the kid off permanently, because of the mom.

Can't wait to hear all the upset parents claiming that their child did nothing wrong & that it was some other kids in the video.

Looks like your mom could have easily been one of my school bus drivers. Back then, kids listened when the driver told them to pipe down, shut up, and behave. Not only did the unruly, smart ass little snots get suspension and banned from the bus, they also received some sort of punishment from their parents as well.

I would love to see the parents, who claim their 'little angels' do no wrong, follow their kids around with a camera. Or at least be put in the same situation as that bus monitor was.
