I'm contemplating a story where an orphaned young lady is abducted by a deranged geneticist and psychotic surgeon. They are going to alter her to have green hair, grow little horns on her forehead and a short, turned up tail. She will then be sold to an eccentric collector who will add her to his 'menagerie' on a secluded Greek island.

Is this SF or Erotic Horror?

As I'm reading this I'm thinking H.G. Wells Island of Dr. Moreau which was always classified as sci fi.

In the story is it more the experiences (fear) of the girl or what is happening (technology)? Honestly, I'm not sure you would make a mistake classifying this either way.

Hell, if the collector is a nice guy (or if she falls in love with one of the other collections) you could probably put later chapters under romance.

Hell no, the romance crowd is not open to a whole lot of fetish type stuff. They're fairly vanilla over there.

VM, don't forget about Non-Human-that's what the girl sort of ends up as, a little succubus looking type thing, so NH may be an option as well.

*Shrug*

No one should listen to me about category questions anyway. Almost all of my stories fall under one category (no matter what kind of sex they are having) And of the other four, one I misclassified.

Which one do you think you got wrong?

I wanted it to be in first time, but Laurel switched it to noncon. She's a little reluctant in the beginning, but she really does like her Master, so I thought it was supposed to go to first time since she was a virgin.

Interesting because I would agree with you. When you have something that could fit in a few things (because BDSM could have worked here as well) I tend to go with the most prominent spin which to me would be first time.

For instance my V-day story was a romance. But because The woman had 20 years on the guy mature was the larger "kink" so it went there (I had some help both Dark and Pennlady said to go that way)

If the woman had, say, been black, I would have went interracial.

Speaking of first time, I am enamored with that concept. I have a couple written and believe it or not they're on the sweet side.

But of all categories the 18+ rule hurts this one. I roll my eyes every time I see it. Many 1st times are younger. I'm not looking to write about 12 year olds, but 16 in that category is a good age, so I just sit on them.

Hmm, most of my NH stories are about humans being ravished by NH's. Doing one from the POV of a satyrette in transition might just be the ticket. And that way I can pair her up with an Oxford educated minotaur or Cernunnos when she gets to the island. This has possibilities . . .

I think you'd be surprised what you find under romance, and what the readers are open to. I'm not sure how much of it you read, or what type, but I've seen a pretty wide variety of things.

Just saw one by Nachthexe categorized as Romance that was pure EH. Should be a truth-in-labeling law around here. Not that the story was bad, it was well-written, but again it was like ordering chardonnay and getting Johnnie Walker Black. I like both, but could I get what I expected, please?

It's Seriously Fucked so it goes in SF.

Though it could be written as a tender romance, as cruel notes.

But I'm seeing she gets dragged down to the "catacombs" and sees her brother in a giant tube and she breaks him out and it becomes a big red H incest story.

For some people Romance is very scary?

A possibility but now what I had in mind. Of course, she could arrive at the island, fall for a sexy were-tiger and after they've rolled in the hay start reminiscing about what it was like to be 'human' and then . . . :D
