Another Reason to Invade Canada...

I think it is very interesting that you all... as a general rule... view your right to chose as paramount over anything else.

Even if that anything else could lead to your early exit from the building.

That is true. Catering to Quebec so we still gotta call them french fries.

"French-cut, Belgian cooking style fries" is too long to say, eh?

Is freedom of choice not the ultimate freedom?

Chug soda and smoke ciggs all you want, the problem happens when you ask me to foot the bill for your bad behavior.

If we just let baddies off themselves via junk food and ciggs, or better yet..make them pay their own fucking bills, this would be a non issue.

Not trying to channel Frizzle here but, if someone wants to eat until they die, *shrug* thats their decision. I, and everyone else, should have the right to do whatever the hell crazy stupid and dangerous thing I want, as long as that crazy stupid dangerous thing only impacts me.

Without the freedom to eat all and what you want, what will feeders do? What will weight-gainers do?

Generally I am in agreement with the both of you. I have no inclination to hand my decision making rights over to anyone else. And yes I do need a shower as well for being in agreement with Frizzle as well TW ;)

The issue I have is that what you are saying is not necessarily accurate. The road to eating your way into a burrito coma has more travellers on it then just you. The self-centred view does not take into consideration the impact on health care as an example.

At what point does Amurcia as a whole say "whoa... this might be a problem. Regardless of our right to consume that Triple Big Mac."

50% of the pop is obese?

60%?

80%?

Isn't it better to take one for the team now before you have no choice in the matter?

What makes a person obese? Numbers put forth by the gummermint?

If that is the case, I was "Overweight" in college. At 5' 9" the "ideal weight" for a man is between 160-169 lbs. At 19, I was 178lbs, less than 5% body fat and the doctor thought I was UNDERWEIGHT!!

All the doctors and medical personel I see tell me I should be between 185-190, but 200 isn't terrible. Remember, these are the same people that said the ideal resting blood pressure reading, after years of being 120/80, should now be 115/75, yet subsidize corn.

That's the fallacy...it is just the individual. No one made them eat or smoke or booze themselves into oblivion. They did it to themselves.

As for health care....there are two fixes.

1) deny these shit bags HC for related issues...(that get's real grey real fast)

2) Tax the ever living SHIT out of all the bad juju to off set the medical cost of their bad habits (make them pay their own bills).

I prefer option 2 but I wouldn't be opposed to telling smokers and binge eating fatties to get fucked when they come looking for a hand out now that they are going to die because of poor life choices either.

The only cure is to in some way form or fashion make them responsible for bad decisions. But then again asking for that much just makes me a racist, misogynistic, hater of a Nazi to most...*shrug*

I find it funny that, the last time I visited a quick care center, every person seeking medical attention was THIN, complaining of sports and exercise related injuries!!! If a person trying to lose weight comes in with a related injury, you'd deny them care?

Not everyone is as perfect as you!!!

I am all for the government promoting healthier living, healthy choice or even limiting the sale of, oh lets say, the big gulp and similar products from young children.

I simply think the way to go about that is not to ban "unhealthy choices"

just a point of fact, "smokers and fatties" do pay more. Their insurance premiums are typically far and above others.

Promoting better eating habits is what the First Lady has done, yet certain GB'ers have BASHED her for doing it, "taking away my freedom" is their battlecry.

And if certain people had their way, those with "predispositions to certain health problems" would NEVER be allowed to have insurance.

Told you it gets real grey real fast...

But no I wouldn't deny them for their sports injury. I would however deny them care for fat related issues, cardiopulmonary distress/failure/disease, diabeetus treatment, dermal issues b/c their skin folds are rotting....that is of course unless they paid for it themselves. Then there is no problem....

That's why I said I prefer option 2....tax the ever living shit out of soda/ciggs/junk food/booze etc.

One way or another the piper has to get paid, you can do it up front when you buy bad juju or you can do it when your blood sugar sky rockets and sends you spiraling into a death coma....

Either way it's wrong for others to have to foot that bill, the baddies must pay the price (be responsible) for their life choices...not everyone else.

Again MAJOR gray area!!! My family is predisposed for diabetes, both TYPE I and TYPE II. As a teen, I was warned that I would most likely have Type II, whether or not I gained weight.

Did you know that certain drugs can cause blood sugar to rise? Most perscribed steroids will do it.

Heart problems are NOT always caused by being fat, not every person with a bad liver drank.

Research and learn before you speak.

An imposed moderation is not the same as a full on ban. It is not so black and white. Being limited in the size of the available goods to consume has in no way affected your right TO consume.

I prefer cigarette users please.

So Frizzle in this pot hazed Utopia you have created...

Do you have bouncers at the doors of the hospitals telling all the "smokers and fatties" that they gotta wait behind the velvet rope whilst all the perfect people get their treatment ASAP?

And if your tax the fuck outta it does become reality....

At what time can we expect you here bitching that you cant afford to live because your taxes are so high?
