figured it was one of those books that catch on only because it is "naughty"

Yeah, but there really is a lot of erotica out there that is a million times better. I wish I knew the magic circumstance that makes these things so popular for no reason, so I can be rich and not be talented too.

Like Twlight.

Careful. when Mrs. W comes on she may get mad if you talk bad about Twilight. she likes boys that sparkle. ;)

Oh right now it's patrica Briggs, Dana Rowland, nalini Singh, and whatever her name is.

Urban fantasy for me!!

I'm %100 with you! Love Patricia Briggs. Karen Chance is great too, if you like Briggs.
I'm pretty into post-apocalyptic fantasy right this second, and some of it is "Teen". So it's fluffy and doesn't require deep thought and just fun to read.

I just read a series called "Life as We Knew It" About how a meteor hit the moon and knocked it into a closer orbit to earth, which caused all kinds of cataclysmic disasters.

And My Life as a White Trash Zombie, Rowland, was good. :)

Yep Karen chance.

I was reading Kenyon, and ugh godcim forgetting names. But sometimes I get author fatigue! Same story, different characters. I have to move on then maybe come back and read back to back

Definitely. That's why I get into Zombie books after reading about too much romantic urban fantasy and teen angst. :)

Okay, I missed something and I thought I had it all in. . .

What happened with Tricia?

And are y'all talking about that book 50 Shades of Gray? Which I've also not read, btw.

My brownies are in the oven, 300 degrees for 50 minutes. A triple batch of them meaning 84 oz. of chocolate.

I've heard it's typical. Now that is coming from a group of erotic fiction writers. So for us, what may seem typical, may seem "oh my god" worthy to the average person.

I have a novel in the works. I do hope it doesn't come across typical. But if so, that's okay - I guess. lol

My daughter graduates on Sunday, so I am baking tonight and all day tomorrow. Tomorrow the pork will cook for 8 hours. I'll make chocolate chip cookies, sugar cookies, homemade rolls for the pulled pork, as well as a broccoli salad, cole slaw, a sheet cake and a 2 layer graduation cake. For drinks: water, ice tea, coffee, lemonade. :)

Ugh. You just reminded me why I love Costco so much!;):D

Oh my, busy lady! Is your daughter graduating from HS?

lol, and yeah, I suppose some of us may be a little bit biased as for what terms Vanilla sex or not.

Are you allowed to share what kind of novel you are writing? :) I've always wanted to do that. But working where I do, I hear that an awful lot to be honest. So many people would love to write, but simply don't. Who knows why...

It's funny. I look at the stories written here and think of most as typical, but anyone else would shit at the amount of real sex that goes on. We're a market waiting to happen and we just need a breakthrough novel like 50 to get it started. Readers are looking for the shock value of what really goes on outside their vanilla lives.

I was planning on making everything myself, except the cole slaw and the bread. I was going to head to the bread store and buy discounted bread, but I realized, I have everything already at home to make the rolls myself, so what is one more homemade item when compared to all the rest. Right? Only someone who loves to cook would do something this silly. lol

Most don't know where to start it, or get it in a flowing structure. I'm writing my first masterpiece outside of erotica and so far, I'm breaking every rule to follow. From the responses to my rough draft I posted here to get a sense of how it would fly, I knew I was on the right track. Whether it ever sees the light of a Kindle, who knows, but I'm giving it my best shot.

Right, it is definitely the shock value. And also in the case of 50 shades, a little bit of the social phenomenon that occurs with women when one woman whose opinion is thought highly of with her friends, tells them all that she loved it... They are predisposed to love it. So many people don't think for themselves.

Yes, High school. She'll attend Ball State in August. :)

My novel will be my first print publication - IF - it gets picked up. If it doesn't then I'll go to self-publication with e-books. As long as I'm allowed by the publisher to have it at Lit. I will. If I do all the work myself as far as e-books and self-publishing, it'll most likely appear on Lit.

I can talk about it, but will hold off. :) I have given snippets off and on throughout the thread though, which has so far been received well. My editor tells me it reads like a novel. Which is good. :) It's around 70K right now and I think has another 10-15K to go when finished.

I love writing and could do it all day if the muse and time allowed. :) I think if one wants to bad enough, they find a way to do it. Even if it is only a page a day, or a paragraph a day. I didn't start writing until I was 31 and to this day I can't stand keeping a journal or diary. lol

I don't see that when I read stories from here. Each one is a new one to me and not typical at all. But I also don't read a lot of erotic fiction at all. I am very picky with what I read because it means I have to give up my time to write in order to read it.

Well, that is one great thing about living in the time that we do. Self-publishing has become so easy. E-reader format first, and then if it really gets popular, you can publish it in material format.

It's what happened with 50 shades, sort of. Except it was published in a very small amount first. And then when it really took off, they switched publishers to better mass produce it.

Ok 11 bells.

I slept horribly last night

Good night my friends.

You make me happy to have you as people I can count on.

I will say mine will have shock value. It covers group, non-consent/reluctance (blackmail), corporate power struggles, revenge, romance, BDSM (w/switching) -- and a whole lot more. :)

That's honestly really good, and even inspiring to know. I'm 24, and I keep thinking, "Man, if I want to write, I better get on it so that I have enough time to practice, improve and get published before I get old..."

Time isn't an easy thing to find, and it get's away from you... I never meant to stop writing in the first place.

And I never could keep a diary either.:rose:
