Revenge fuck?

Am I the only person on lit who doesn't understand the concept of the revenge fuck?
Someone has just crapped all over your world by fucking the spouse you thought was faithful so you go out and fuck someone els and this evens the score?

No it doesn't. It's not going to make them feel as shitty as you do, because by doing what they've already done they've shown they don't much care about you. It doesn't make the pain go away for more than a few minutes and unless you chose a hooker you will probably feel worse because you have used someone, an innocent party, to try and get back at your spouse.

Given that it makes no sense why does it crop up so often in LW stories on Lit?

Also, if you removed everything in erotica that "made no sense," this place would be a graveyard.

I just started submitting a story on Lit "Need For Revenge'. Not all people, men and women alike do not deal with cheating the same way. For some it might be hurt pride or ego. Others a need to retaliate in some way. Not too many people that I have known that are divorced have walked away with a smile.

Many writers may not use physical revenge for what ever reason but when they are writing they might do whatever comes into their mind, which could be a revenge fuck to hurting or even killing the cheaters. Makes for interesting stories.

The revenge fuck in reality is not really conducive to any type of result and usually makes things worse.

However, in erotica its a great trope and pretty much a porn standard especially in LW

Think of it the same way that every girl who is a virgin loses it in a gang bang and loves it and every guy has 10" and a 6 pack stomach.

I think DG Hear, MFG and LC68 have pretty much covered the waterfront on this one, DeYaKen. It's a LW convention, like green means "go", red means "stop", and yellow means "speed up".

I'd say that opinions differ on whether or not it makes sense. People react to just about anything differently. Just because it doesn't make sense to one person doesn't make it universally "doesn't make sense."

I think the goal often may be to make the revenge-taking party feel better, rather than the revenged-on party feel worse.

Or maybe it's not so much a turn on as it is a reflection of reality. People do tend to go for hookups on the "rebound", as it were.

I put it in the same league as the man in TV programmes who reaches for the whisky bottle as soon as he gets home, because he has had a hard day. This is also something I have never seen in real life but is readily accepted on TV.

The interesting thing about the LW audience is give them a revenge fuck and they lap it up. Give them a couple getting back together after being apart for ten years and all the trolls scream "Never gonna happen" or "after ten years? get real"

What the stats tell us is that the eventual reconcilliation is much more real than the revenge fuck.

The writing and the TV plotlines usually reflect real life. In basic motivations, the arts don't usually go out in front of reality.

You do accept, don't you, that your values and what you "know" to be legitimate emotions and perspectives don't speak for everyone? If so, you really should be prepared to accept that some folks are wired this way.

Yes, so? Why would that stop some folks from doing it--or wanting to do it or writing about doing it or wanting to read about doing it?

This thread seems a little naive at the edges on how screwy some people actually are in their thinking. Just look through the recent thread on the death penalty--you'll see a bunch of AH regulars who take revenge to an art form. Or just tiptoe through the comments on LW stories.

I actually get this, I just wouldn't do it, or likely write about it (I don't think; however, it's never come up for me in a story yet).

I imagine one way it could work in the mind of the person aiming for revenge is:

1. X cheated on me.
2. I will cheat on X and show X that
-- they cannot do this to me without repercussions
-- that someone else finds me desirable
-- they can hurt as much as I can
-- I can hurt X the way X hurt me

Not that it works this way, necessarily, but that's a train of thought I can understand.

Where do you see rape? Unless I missed something in a post I'm just going with the theme that the other person is a willing participant.

In fact most of the time it is willing, and the other person looking for some revenge as well.

I think its a great erotica trope that can work well in not only LW, but I would think group and if you want too push limits incest-especially watered down incest using in laws as revenge fuck candidates.

But again in r/l all this leads to is more drama, ruined relationships, hatred and sometimes big time trouble from really pissed off ex's, including vandalism and the occasional good old fashioned ass kicking.

I freely admit that I am prone to be vindictive as hell and would probably follow a "scorched earth" policy, if I ever get around to writing an LW....but there are ways to go about it. Dump her ass first and then find a girl to fuck that will really piss her off. She can't call it cheating, but it will piss her off. This is not advice....just my attitude. Sure, it would reduce the chances of a reconciliation, but if someone did that to me, they shouldn't let the door hit their ass on the way out, anyway. I wouldn't be interested in reconciliation (hence dumping her ass first).

But I also avoid LW like the plague, since every time I hit the feedback portal, all of the dumbest comments are for LW stories. So I'd have to be in a real masochistic mood to write one. Or sadomasochistic, given what I'd do to take revenge in it.

Even if I (or my character) didn't dump the girl immediately, I'd be in a mood where I didn't give a damn if it poisoned things. But I'm different that way. I understand how others would be otherwise inclined. I've never been a very pliable sort....which, given the nature of my exes, may have something to do with my being twice divorced. But that's fine with me. I learned to stop searching for Ms. Right. If it happens, that's okay. If not, I won't lose any sleep.

So if I wrote anything, that's likely to be the attitude of my protagonists....a kind of "life's too short to give a crap" mentality.

An agreeable dissent from a misanthropic prick. Or just an another point of view on this issue. Maybe others on LW think the same way, so that might explain a lot of the revenge sex and other forms of revenge. Just a thought. Maybe they're hard-asses like me.
