A rapid power fluctuation took out my new computer.

So much for my high dollar surge suppressor.


All that happens is little a blue light flashes when I turn it on.

Then it's the computer that's at fault. If it was fried from a power spike, the blue light wouldn't work.

Fuck! This happens every time I try to use 1.21 gigawatts of electricity through the flux capacitor on the DeLorean. I thought I resolved that on one of my trips back to the future. I blame it on that damn plutonium those Libyan terrorists gave me. I really should get rid of that troublesome Delorean. Perhaps Ford's new Global Ranger?

Here, if a power company has an issue like that, you can claim back the cost of equipment that fries.
So long as you have statements from other people on your grid that it actually happened (I think you need 3 here).

Well, it has worked fine until now....I think I paid about eighty dollars about seven years ago for it.

I was hoping it was flashing some kind of code as I have had computers beep in code before, when they would not start up after the on button is pushed.

Unplug the surge suppressor for 5 minutes then plug it back in. Basically most of them are useless.

If the computer is plugged into the surge protector and the blue light is still blinking, the surge protector is not the issue.

Unplug the computer for power completely for 5 minutes, then plug it into the outlet directly. Boot up and see what happens.

If you only get the blue blinky light again, I hope you can take your computer back to wherever you purchased it.

Most surge suppressors need to be replaced every five years. If you had a surge big enough to be noticed, you probably damaged the suppressor. Take it out of the circuit and plug your computer straight to a wall outlet. If it starts, all you need is a new suppressor.
