Camp Nanowrimo is coming up fast in June... looking for comrades to tackle the erotic fiction cabin with a vengeance...

50,000 words in one month would be a lot for me, but not impossible. However, I would never be able to write that much on one story in a month.

If it's like NaNo in November, you don't have to write just one story. You can write 50k worth of short stories. Just so it is 50k.

I have always had the idea that NaNo means a 50,000 word novel. As I say, that would be a lot of writing, even for me, and I have always been pretty prolific. I have, occasionally, written 50,000 words in one month, but only while working on multiple stories at a time, wich is the way I write.

I think if you are already prolific and have your own approaches to scheduling and structuring your writing, NaNo would be just an added artificial layer/burden to your writing. Others, of course, seem to find it to be great fun and to help them produce.

I did look at it's program last year but then decided it would just bog down my writing. I do have more than 50,000 words of works in my mind to write during June, though.

Hmmm, that would require me to spend a couple of hours at the keyboard each day. Nah, I'd rather go fishing. It is late spring after all.

For NaNo, you can do 50 1k stories if you want or a 50k novel. Just one thing, it has to be all new work. You can't bring stuff in and use what you wrote previously in your numbers.

The idea isn't so much what you write but the idea that you write every day. 1667 words a day will give you 50k in 30 days. Get a bunch of story ideas together and go for it.

As of right now, I have about thirty stories in progress, and I do keep track of how much I write. My average, on days I write, is about 740 words, and I try to do more. On some days, I try to do over 2,000 words, and I have gone over 4,000 words in one day in the past. It would be interesting to see if I actually do that much in one month.

I also do some editing of old stories for submission to Smashwords and Amazon. I don't keep track of that in my total daily writing. The editing is time-consuming but doesn't result in much of an increase in output.

Hmmm, I have alot of great writers in here so far.... but is anyone taking the bait? You only have to write 1,667 words a day to complete 50,000 word story or set of mini stories. maybe you want to work a theme into it...like a fetish or something.

I can't be the only one who could write fifty thousand words of flesh slapping flesh fascination?

Count me out! I'm lucky if I write 5,000 words in a month, let alone 50K!

My local NaNo group is planning events for June, with either a weekend camping trip or an all-day writing event. I haven't decided if I'll be participating in a summer NaNo.

I had no idea such an event existed. I've done the original Nano a couple of times, and I knew there were spin off events. Hmm... maybe I'll give it a go :)

On the face of it, it isn't that much to do - I know I can do 1,667 words a day. Realistically, the man has a crazy amount of travel scheduled for us in June, so I really doubt it. Still, it's a great goal.

ms.read, I so love your av.

1,667 words doesn't sound like an awful lot. I often write that many in one day, but averaging that many for thirty day is a tall order. I don't write every day and, more often than not, I don't write that many in a day when I do write.

Even so, I will give it a try. I actually have set up a file on my HD showing how much I write and my average day of writing, so I shouldn't have any trouble keeping track. It should be an interesting challenge. :)

That's great, Box. I have a project I could do for NaNo summer camp, but I have to finish the Story-A-Day in May challenge before I decide.

Topace, it's a challenge...some people have other obligations, it's okay :)

MistressLynn, you could count the all day writing event as part of your word count for june. :) Camping trip does sound fun though!

KlaytonFrost! It would be wonderful if you did this event! The More, the merrier!

Annanova, It's a great challenge! and it's harder than it looks. (dirty brain, just...stop...)

Boxlicker, they have a website that keeps track of all your progress when you sign in. all you need is a basic wordprocessor, such as notepad, google docs, or ywriter, or whatever a mac has... it does everything for you except write the story...

Story a day in May challenge? What is this? I am very curious!

Does this mean I submit stories to places other than Lit.? I already send them to groupmvp and get paid for them. (a pittance) Besides that, I'm thinking about total words written, not word total for all stories finished and submitted.

I have dozens of stories in progress, probably totaling over 100,000 words. I will finish some of them next month, and some later. Some I may never finish. I am going to try to write 50,000 words in one month, not necessarily submit ten stories of 5,000 words each.

You don't submit anything to the NaNo site other than a scrambled version of your document at the end of the month to verify the number of words written. It's a personal challenge to write 50k words. Nothing more. You determine how you'll write those words and what you'll do with them. If you want to post them on Lit or send them off to a publisher, you can.
