Ann Romney is such a classy lady that she has even referred to Michelle Obama — whose ominously hulking appearance reminds some of Chewbacca — as “lovely.” The thanks she gets from the Bitter Half’s cheering squad in the “mainstream” media is to be compared to Hitler for revering motherhood.

Ann Romney wrote this in a pre-Mother’s Day op-ed:

Cherish your mothers. The ones who wiped your tears, who were at every ball game or ballet recital. The ones who believed in you, even when nobody else did, even when maybe you didn’t believe in yourself.

Women wear many hats in their lives. Daughter, sister, student, breadwinner. But no matter where we are or what we’re doing, one hat that moms never take off is the crown of motherhood.

There is no crown more glorious.

Newsweek columnist Michelle Goldberg replied on MSNBC:

“I found that phrase ‘the crown of motherhood’ really kind of creepy, not just because of its, like, somewhat you know, I mean, it’s kind of usually really authoritarian societies that give out like ‘The Cross of Motherhood,’ that give awards for big families. You know, Stalin did it, Hitler did it.”

Godwin’s Law has been pushed to the final limit of absurdity.

Goldberg: Not a fan of Hitlerian conspiracies like motherhood.

LOL! That's because she thinks that, when they die, she and her hubby will reign as king and queen on another planet!

(I'm not even kidding!) :D

You may need to explain it to whatshisname. He's a little slow:rolleyes:

Just wait until the press gets ahold of Mrs. Romney a little more. I'm sure she'll offer just as good - if not better - gafffes than her hubby does.

I can see her trying to explain the Nephites. That would be fun!

I want the idiot liberal media to continue this kind of stupidity. It's only going to backfire on them.

What a nasty, hate-filled bitch.

So, lets see, Stalin and Hitler glorified motherhood. Therefore glorifying motherhood makes someone the same as Stalin and Hitler.

Stalin and Hitler supported social welfare programs and social safety nets. Therefore supporting any social welfare programs makes someone the same as Stalin and Hitler.

We have to be consistent with this logic folks.

"You know, it’s … we’re ready, you know. Our children, you know, could care less about what we’re doing. We work hard to do that. Fortunately we have help from the media. I have to say this: I’m very grateful for the support and kindness that we’ve gotten. People have respected their privacy and in that way, I think, you know, no matter what people may feel about my husband’s policies or what have you, they care about children and that’s been good to see.“
Michelle Obama

This one-sided coverage is keeping Obama within striking distance of the Romneys...

Contemporary leftists, on the other hand, view their opponents as people you send off to the Gulag, unworthy of any respect, deserving of any kind of low blow, no matter how foul. So you accuse Goldwater of insanity, slander Justice Thomas as a sexual monster, casually publish plays, books, and films calling for the assassination of President Bush, and assault the first serious Republican female candidate at her weakest point -- her family. And of course, you scream to high heaven if any form of turnabout occurs in your direction, as in the case of the Obama family, which was declared "off limits" early in the presidential campaign, at the same time that Palin's family was being stretched on the media rack.

This style of political loathing has become effectively innate. It has been systemized to such a degree as to become integral. Modern liberalism cannot do without it. An entire structure has been erected on the basis of political hatred, and from that structure a whole new strategy has arisen.

All these personal attacks are far from hurting Romney. I believe they are helping him by making him seem like more of an ordinary American. He seems more and more like Middle America not the previously portrayed millionaire elitist with a strange religious background. They are helping to humanize him and Ann.

It's all they have.

They are basing their polity on the metric of "fairness."

Well, we all know fairness is not a valid economic policy, but rather the charge of an angry child...

IT'S NOT FAIR!

its nice to see

irrational and disgusting comments are made

ATTACK MORMONS:cool:

Newsweek Writer Refuses To Apologize To Ann Romney For Comparing Her To Hitler And Stalin…

Not that anyone expected an apology.

Via Newsweek/Daily Beast:

I woke up this morning and saw this headline about me on Glenn Beck’s website The Blaze: “MSNBC PANELIST COMPARES ANN ROMNEY COMMENT WITH STALIN, HITLER.” Thanks to Twitter, I soon learned that other conservative sites had similar stories. Immediately, I wished I could go back to bed. [...]

There have been a bunch of calls for me to apologize to Romney for calling her a Nazi. If I had done that, of course, I would. I’m tempted to anyway, in case my words have been genuinely rather than tendentiously misunderstood. Romney, though, has made it pretty clear that she relishes opportunities to act the martyr. When CNN contributor Hilary Rosen inadvertently launched a new phase in the mommy wars by saying that Ann Romney was unqualified to serve as her husband’s chief adviser on women’s issues because she had “never worked a day in her life,” Mrs. Romney was delighted. “It was my early birthday present for someone to be critical of me as a mother, and that was really a defining moment, and I loved it,” she said at a private fundraiser.

So my apologies aren’t for Ann Romney, but for everyone else. I’m truly sorry to have given the right a pretext for another tedious spasm of feigned outrage. I’m sorry to have stirred one of the teapot tempests that now dominate the increasingly dispiriting world of political journalism. I’m especially sorry if I’ve done anything to strengthen the conservative myth that liberals disdain motherhood.
