We all have them.

Yes you do.

Those songs we wouldn't be caught dead listening to in front of other people.

The ones we sing, in the car, with the windows up, and only at night when no one can see.

They're not obscure songs, or different songs. Usually everyone else knows them too, just not like you do. Most might consider them bad songs in spite of the fact that they get airplay, usually on a station with 'kiss' or 'hits' or 'classic' or 'Top40' as a tag line.

You should link them to this thread for all to enjoy (and laugh at).

Mine:

Survivor - Eye of the Tiger

Ini Kamoze - Here Comes the Hotstepper

DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince - Brank New Funk

Sting and the Police - Do do do De da da da

Everything avril lavigne ever sang.

It's not embarrassing that I listened to them, it's embarrassing how I wore the CD out and sang along at the top of my lungs.

Word. That's as hardcore as Avril herself. :D

I have also been guilty of this once in a while. The Fixx, awesomeness.

Ke$ha is my dirty little secret. Especially "Take It Off." - In Wikipedia, she's credited for writing it after watching strippers at a transexual club. I tend to think of peep shows when I hear the song, imagining beautiful women behind panes of glass, stripping and simulating sex while guys watch through two way mirrors and jerk-off. It still fits.

I resisted PINK for a long time. I was initially seduced by "U and UR Hand," but I fell in love with "Funhouse."

Okay, I'm trite. What can I say?

Herb Alpert, with the Tijuana Brass and solo.

The Carpenters "Close to You"

And yes, I have an extension list of Barry Manilow songs on the iPod.

"Star Trekkin'
across the universe
still trekkin'
'cos we can't find reverse"

Sigh. Okay I'll set myself up with this one.

I'm usually the stereo typed metal head. Manson, Rob Zombie, Slip Knot etc... But I do have eclectic taste, I love do wop, but here are the dirtiest secrets on my I-Pod.

The Worst thing about She Bangs is I'm a pretty good dancer and if I've had enough to drink can really tear it up to this one.

No excuse for this one

Pink is pretty good. U and UR hand is classic.

Pink is really very good. Her collaboration with Linda Perry has produced some first rate songs.

I suppose my confession would be Dolly Parton. I really shouldn't be embarrassed; she's another prolific song writer. It must be the boobs.

I'm typically a 70's rock or blues kind of guy. Anything with lots of overly complicated guitar, basically.

But I fully admit to listening to N*Sync when I need a pick me up. Late 90s pop is such a different beast, I can't help but feel a bit better.

I move that this be stricken from the record, as Duran Duran is one of the best bands to ever come out of Britain. Either that, or I am guilty of this.

Guilty as confessed. ;)

I must assume that you also like the Thompson Twins?

Too many to name. I enjoy cheesy songs when I'm in the mood. Same for... dare I say it... rap :\

The hatred against rap bothers me. I know that a lot of it is misplaced, but the culture of rap being about abusing women and violence comes mainly from the audience for that kind of music. It is white studio heads that choose which rappers get big, and which don't. It was only at the beginning of the hip hop movement (when no one cared about rap) And at present day (when indie singers can get a lot of radio time) that certain artists have been able to veer away from those topics.

I love rap from the early nineties, back before it got so serious. And I love the artist Brother Ali. Give these two a listen and be proud of liking rap!

Add me to the Duran Duran fan club. I think their critical rep is on the
rise, but they are still chased by their pretty boy image.

Don't be, as long as you stop listening at Odessa. Anything past that album should be kept secret. Very secret. Like 'to the grave' secret.
